I was denied admission to CALS Friday… It says because I “Lack my AA Degree”- even though I have it…?! Ill be in their office first thing Monday morning with my diploma!

What is your GPA lexi?

3.85- I have all prerequisites plus extra credits. I was in two honors programs at my college and graduated with honors… & I graduated from high school with a 4.0

Is 3.85 your core gpa?

Sorry to hear that Lexii27. Hopefully they made a mistake.

I have a question for everyone. Do you know what UF does to our credits and GPA from our previous college?

dreamer…I know that the UF GPA includes all attempts at classes. They do not honor grade forgiveness even if a previous college did.

From what I understand, UF does not look to strongly at your overall GPA when comparing against other students. Instead, your core GPA- GPA of the prerequistes for your particular major- is the deciding factor in the admissions process. This is at least true for CALS.

Yeah, I thought so. But I read somewhere that uf doesnt include your GPA from your previous college, admitted transfer students will start over their gpa at UF.

Kazzak, sorry if my question is unclear. I was asking about the transfer credits once you are admitted. yeah you are right, uf cares more about your prerequisite courses gpa.

Kazzak- I believe it is roughly my core gpa as well. What brought it down was calculus las semester which I got a B in… It was about a 4.0 till then

Yes, idreamer, once you start classes at UF, your GPA starts over. You still have those previous credits transfer over(60 max), but your grades don’t contribute to your new GPA.

Flor1dagator7, ok thanks a lot. Are you a current student?

I went to uf today about my denial because they claimed I don’t have my AA Degree (which I really do). They resubmitted everything and my application is back under review. For all those still waiting like me they still kept saying July 15 is the latest we’ll hear back.

idreamer: Not yet, I was accepted as a transfer for this Fall. I went to orientation/Preview and that is where they stressed that point to all of us.

Lexii…I believe that is the situation with my application as well. The lady I talked to told me that it would probably be a couple of weeks before I hear back. I don’t know if my status will change on the website or if I will get something in the mail. It’s nerve racking! Good to know we still will find out by July 15th!

Agmama- does your status say you were denied because of your AA? My status changed right after they put in that I have my AA

Mine was denied because my overall GPA wasn’t the 2.5, but that was only because of classes I took 12-14 years ago. My GPA since I started back in 2011 is over a 3.0. I think that my app was resubmitted because when I emailed to ask how I would find out a decision I was told that my app had been re referred and would be re reviewed and that could take a couple of weeks. My status hasn’t changed at all. There was a little more between the denial and resubmission, but I don’t want to share the details because I don’t want people trying to demand it be done for them too. It was kind of a lucky fluke that I didn’t expect or ask for. You have a better chance than I do at this point since the reason for your denial wasn’t factual.

I hope everything works out for you! What college did you apply to?

I applied to CALS as an Agricultural Education major.

I just checked and my status was changed back to “Your application has been referred to your college for a final decision”! So, I guess that means it is waiting to be reviewed again! This is so nerve wracking!

Does anyone know of someone who is applying to the Nutritional Sciences program within CALS?
