I got accepted last night as a transfer student!

" Congratulations!!! Your application to the University of Florida for the Fall 2013 term has been approved!

Official notification will arrive by mail, including the conditions of your admission as well as important orientation and immunization information.

We look forward to seeing you on campus soon, and welcome you to the Gator Nation!"

Maybe this will comfort everyone who is nervous.

My GPA as of now is 2.95 overall. Although I’m sure the recalculated GPA is a bit better. My advisor saw this and still said I can be accepted after I finish one more class in the summer. I’m guessing he only focused on my critical tracking courses, which I actually do well in. The C’s came earlier. I really urge everyone to get their voice heard. That way when they look at your application, you’re not just a file. If I didn’t contact my advisor, there is no doubt that I would have been rejected. Also, my GPA will be anywhere from 3.1-3.2 after this semester. I’ve really gotten my act together.

Does anyone know if I will be given the opportunity to try for a different major within my college if I’m rejected from the one I applied for? I applied for Agricultural Education and with some creative math I may have a high enough overall gpa (I went to school 14 years ago and did really badly and I, unfortunately can’t erase those grades). If they look at just what I’ve done this time around my gpa is plenty high enough and will only get higher as I complete my classes this semester and in the summer. I do, however have a high enough gpa and most of the critical tracking course completed for Agricultural Communication and the one I don’t have (technical writing) isn’t offered at my current school. I also have a high enough gpa for Family Youth and Community Services, but am missing 2 of the critical tracking classes, which I have already registered for summer just in case…though I didn’t update my application to reflect that. So, if I can’t get in to Ag Education I’d like to try for one of those (Ag Communication most likely).

My app has been referred to my college at this point, but I’m not sure if that happens with everyone. I guess that just means that I meet the minimum standards for transfer to UF, but not necessarily my major of choice, right?

After 10 weeks my application was finally referred to the college of business. Have met their requirements so just waiting official confirmation. Just wanted to share that although admissions had told me they had my transcripts when my status changed today it showed that they received my current transcripts only 10 days ago so if your application is taking awhile to process make sure they actually have everything even if they tell you otherwise.

For those who have gotten decisions from CLAS already, how long did it take after your application had been referred to them to hear something? The wait is driving me crazy.

I really want to reach out to an advisor in the program I applied to - but I’m not quite sure how to approach or what to say! I honestly don’t have much questions at this time, other than to ask them to kindly accept me into their program! :P

It’s all about getting your name heard. It doesn’t have to be the most direct question. If you’re applying for fall, ask them if there are any additional classes you can take during the summer that can improve your chances. They are advisors, so they deal with a variety of questions on a daily basis.

My major is Industrial Engineering, I go to Florida International University, have a 3.2/3.0 overall/pre-profesional GPA, 57 credits completed but currently (Spring 2013) taking 14 credits. Those credits Being Calc 3, Diff Eq, Programing and Marketing. I’m pretty sure I will end this semester with all A’s. So, come May, I’ll send UF a new set of transcripts with a GPA boost.

Does anyone know my chances of getting in?? Please let me know!

Well it’s tricky because UF prioritizes undergraduate admissions in this order:

Freshman Students
Transfer Students w/ AA
Transfer Students from another university.

According to your class rigor and GPA, you should be good academically. The only way I see them denying you is because of space limitations. Your best bet would be to contact an advisor. I also applied for a major in the college of engineering and have a better understanding of what I need to do to be accepted by the fall because I contacted my advisor.

Hey Guys,
So i got in as a transfer from Florida Atlantic University, i honestly didn’t think i would get in but my stats were:

Major: Biology, College Of Liberal Arts and Sciences
GPA: 3.5
Pre-Professional GPA: 3.6
I was very involved in extracurriculars and had a leadership position in an Honors society (i think that helped),

Since i got in last semester when i had preview advising with my advisor she told me that they accepted about 20 Pre-health transfer students into the College of liberal arts and sciences for spring 2013.

Just write a good essay for the app and also CALL OFTEN to ask them about your status and make sure everything they need from the transcripts they received.

when i had orientation it was about 50/50 with Comminity College transfers and University transfers.

Don’t worry most of you all will probably get in!

I applied on 2/2 and the last of my transcripts arrived on 3/7. I’m requesting entrance to the Accounting program and have a 3.7 GPA and A’s in all of my accounting classes here at FSU.

This wait is KILLING me. I’m on the “Your application for admission to the University of Florida for the Fall 2013 term has been received and is being evaluated. Once your grade point average is calculated and your eligibility is confirmed, your application will be sent to your college for a final decision.” step and it’s been that way for easily two weeks.

I wish they’d just hurry up! I do NOT have the patience for this!

I spoke to my advisor at FIU and she told me once spring grades come out, my new transcripts will show that I have a AA. Now, my plan if I get denied before spring grades are due, will be to appeal my application and send in my new set of transcripts with the AA. What is your take on this?

I’ve also applied to the Accounting program, transferring from Santa Fe with an AA. I have a 3.5 overall GPA and all A’s preprofessional except 1 B in Macroeconomics. I know my overall GPA is very low, I messed up significantly in two dual enrollment classes. =/

I’m now on step 3/4
