Hello everyone,

I am currently an undergraduate student at ERAU majoring in computational mathematics. Since I am considering transferring to UF, I'd like to hear your opinion on their mathematics program. It appears that UF's math program didn't rank so 'well' nationally. Also, I'm not sure how it compares to ERAU's mathematics program in regards to job opportunities, reputation, et cetera. Eventually, one of you guys can help me out here. I'm certainly aware of the fact that there is a slim chance for transfer student to get accepted, but before I really look any further, I would first like to gather some opinions here.

Thanks und liebe Grüße.

Well I can’t tell you much about the program, but you shouldn’t underestimate your chances of getting in as a transfer.

UF only accepts Junior-level transfers, but mathematics is supposed to be one of the least competitive majors to transfer in to. I’ve heard of people getting in with 3.0’s, which would be unheard of for a more competitive major like Political Science, Psychology, Journalism, etc.

You are at a disadvantage only because you come from a University and not a community college, as UF gives priority to CC transfers. With a strong GPA, though, in a less competitive major like mathematics you definitely have a real shot.

If you’re a 3.5 or better, junior-level transfer with all of the prereqs completed I think you’ll get in to mathematics.
