No, my ISIS didn’t change (as far as I noticed). My degree audit still looks the same, with all the red X’s and such. So I’m assuming that you’ll find out on the admission decision page before anything else changes…

talked to CALS today they are still reviewing summer B =( she said the latest would be june 1st.

I was poking around google and found the minutes from an IFAS council meeting. Basically it said that they as well as all the other colleges have to decrease enrollment and whatnot, but they did say that nearly 40% of students in CALS are transfer students and that total they have about 2000 spots open. And that they delayed notification till april 15 as the earliest. And seeing how I and other have talked to them and they say they are still reviewing summer B, it could be a good deal longer than these other colleges.

500 spots open for CALS, 2000 for the university, sorry for misquoting

interesting information to say the least.

I got in! I went and checked my status online tonight and it said:

"Congratulations!!! Your application to the University of Florida for the Summer B 2009 term has been approved!

Official notification will arrive by mail, including the conditions of your admission as well as important orientation and immunization information.

We look forward to seeing you on campus soon, and welcome you to the Gator Nation!"

I am in the College of Journalism- Journalism major. Going up this weekend to sign a lease! Good luck and congratulations to all!

do you have a link for those minutes?

[UF-IFAS Faculty Council Meeting Minutes](http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:tm0AFtQoXAgJ:faculty.ifas.ufl.edu/council/Minutes_051308.doc+uf+transfer+student+message+board&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a)

The highlights:
Dr. Barrick continued by indicating that there is no enrollment plan at UF, which is disconcerting. UF has 50,000 students, but manages the student body like there are 20,000. UF typically admits 3,600 transfer students annually, most from community colleges, and 3,000 actually enroll. CALS admissions have been around 650-750 per year, of which 87% enroll. The projected transfer enrollment for fall 2008 is 2000. Disproportional adjustments were made, amounting to 55-75% of target. CALS was allotted 75% of target, so the college is down about 500 spaces for the entire academic year. CALS receives denials from other colleges who are able to re-apply (to CALS) due to a 3-month offset of deadline dates. CALS does not admit very many of those. A discussion of inter-college transfers at UF ensued. Eighty-three percent of CALS students are enrolled in unique programs (majors not available anywhere else in the SUS). CALS requires 611 spaces to fulfill just the unique programs (protected majors) that we can and need to fill. The bottom line is that CALS will have to deny some applicants due to enrollment cuts. Other UF colleges have transfer slots, but they will not release them to CALS
due to the lack of an enrollment plan (according to Dr. Barrick). IFAS has tried to obtain more transfer spots from other colleges, but these colleges will not turn them loose because it could eventually cost them some budget (if budgets are made based on student credit hours).

Another interesting note

Jerry Culen raised a question about reports that transfer numbers from community colleges may be limited. Dr. Cheek reported that CALS coordinators met with a representative from Provost’s office. Discussion followed on the freeze of students coming from the community colleges, what impact this will have, and how it will hurt the enrollment of CALS. We need transfer students to fill the land grant mission and to fill our classes – approximately 40% of CALS students are transfers. President Machen addressed the issue of the importance of these students to CALS to a group of industry leaders. Dr. Cheek suggested Kirby Barrick, or if not available, Elaine Turner to attend the April Faculty Council meeting to discuss the issue of transfer students to CALS – need to possibly involve Senators. Other colleges such as Engineering appreciate transfer students and their importance to UF. David will see if Dean Barrick and Senate President Rick Yost are able to attend the April meeting to discuss the transfer student issue. Jerry will check with Dr. Turner on the time line regarding decision about transfer students.

They are from about a year ago but i’m sure the general information is similar to this year

whats UF’s policy on inter-college transfer (changing from one college to another)?

i know that if you transfer into a major, you have to graduate with that major. i have a transfer friend who wanted to switch majors, and they wouldn’t let her, so she left UF and went to another school.

because I was considering seeing what shot I have at sending a petition to college of engineering, once I get there (this was not my plan at all, I just had like a…eye-opener and really want to get back into engineering…I just ‘found’ this out a few days before april)

I will meet every single pre-req, I will try to approach the associate dean and ask for help.

But what I am more worried about is whether or not i actually need permission to LEAVE liberal arts and science.
(this is actually pretty silly considering college of engineering is easier to transfer into…so I put myself in this situation.)

I am impartial between pursuing mathematics or mechanical eng. but I REALLY want to keep my future career at low risk…and the only easy job to get with a math degree is teaching, to get into financials you really need to be at the best school and be the best.

I have sent a couple emails to advisors on my situation, but no responses yet.

@ rosa

the MAIN reason they don’t people jumping around to different majors is cost. They will likely turn down a request for transferring majors if you

A. Have scholarships or grants
B, The coursework you have taken would not be accepted towards the new major resulting in an inability to graduate within the 4 semester time frame.

this comes from a good source

Regarding the decisions date, this email is right from the source

Dear James,

Each college sets their own timeframes, so it can get very confusing when, hypothetically, an engineering major tells a physics major when the decisions will go out. CLAS still plans on having all current referred applications decided upon by April 30th. If you do not have a decision by then, please call the office to see what is happening.

(this email is from today Apr 16th)

thanks for posting that email, hey.

much appreciated.
