(ULTIMATE test for CC Chancers) - Come back May 2009 to see if you're right!

Mainly doing this out of curiosity, as are all the other chance threads.

I'm just going to throw my stats on CC, see what opinions here are, and then come back in May to see how well I was accurately "chanced."

Recommendations and opinions would be nice because I feel like my list of 6 schools is a bit too small and possibly a slight overshoot of my stats.

Here's your ultimate test. Be honest and be fair. And see you all again in May 2009!

Colleges (All RD):
*Brown
*UC Berkeley
*UCLA
*UC Davis
*Harvard
*Stanford

Debating on:
*Yale
*UPenn
*I don't know? Suggestions please!

THANKS in advance! I hope some of you guys will respond to this :] Spent a bit of time typing this out.

*Brown- slight match??? Well… it used to be. Now all Ivies are crapshoots.
*Harvard- Reach.
*Stanford- Reach.

There’s nothing I can really say about the Ivies. Too many people of too many backgrounds get rejected…

Safe match to safeties for all UCs and CSUs.

your ECs/awards are amazing
the only thing lacking is work experience. i wouldn’t really say the internship is a working experience because you learned and studied at college. Working experience to me is more like being a bagger at Shoprite or tutoring people.
honestly you probably are at the best you can be so all i can say is good luck
i agree with Gryffon on the ivies part so i’m not really gonna chance you
i guess the only thing you can do is bring up the SAT I but if everything else is really good, a not so good SAT I is not gonna bring you down

I can relate to your school, we do not send that many people out to ivies and good schools outside the state (I live in Texas). (2008: 1 M.I.T 1 Northwestern, many UT many community college). On to you ;), your test scores are awesome and it seems you are very dedicated in your EC’s. The UC’s are locks but anything is possible with Brown, Harvard, and Stanford. Just stay positive and good luck. Chance me on the thread ‘Just for kicks’ if you can.

*Brown - in
*UC Berkeley - in
*UCLA - in w/ regents
*UC Davis - in
*Harvard - rejected
*Stanford - in
*Yale - rejected
*UPenn - in

Haha, I would agree in that the work experience is a bit lacking, but it was a paid internship and I think, considering how many EC’s I have and how much room for it there is on the application, it would be the appropriate place to put it on my apps.

Any more takers? you can make it as simple as llpitch’s :]

ah sigh bumping

anyone else? please and thank you?

My high school sounds like yours :frowning:

I think you have a good chance at Brown, Berkeley, and UCLA. You’re probably in at Davis for sure. Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Penn, no one can say for sure, but your ECs are really good, so yar. Maybe raise the SAT I score a bit to be safe?

(What instrument do you play in band? :O)

Doesn’t your class rank guarantee admission to UCs?

Good ECs, but a little scattered. What do you consider most important to you? What’s your projected major?

*Brown- Low reach
*UC Berkeley- Low reach
*UCLA- match
*UC Davis- Low match
*Harvard- Reach
*Stanford- Reach

Debating on:
*Yale- Reach
*UPenn- Low reach

You might want to take a look at slightly less competitive schools like Northwestern, Tufts, WUSTL.

to licia, i play the flute in band :stuck_out_tongue: heck yeahs, and I love it. Been first chair for all of high school >__> except in diff level bands. i got into the highest level band only last year

to amciw, as for the top 4% guarantee thing, I believe my counselors have a way to rank (I mean, simply put the gpa’s in decending order right?) for their own purposes to send to the UCs

oh oops and to glassesarechic, i consider science research and leadership to be the most important, hence the kinda odd scattering of half leadership and half science things for my ECs.

The band thing I don’t know if I want to include because it kinda detracts attention from my targeted major, biochemistry (later med school hopefully).

Anyone want to give advice? Is it better to list a bunch of ECs and hope for “well roundedness” or just stick to mainly science ECs?

Ah in addition, I would shoot for schools like WUSTL and Northwestern…if only they could give financial aid like the ivies. I can’t afford their 50k/year tuition and fees =[

I play flute, too :open_mouth: First chair flautists ftw!

Haha yeahh :]

ahhh need to bump this >:]

Ho ho If I was right about every chance I gave out on this site, I would make millions. Too bad that would only happen in my own fantasies.

HA i forgot about this. BUMPING HECKA :]
