My son's UCF portal message says, as other's do, that they've received his info and keep checking. Yesterday, I mentioned that to another Mom and she said that last year her child's info. kept saying the same thing so they drove to UCF for a tour and finally got in front of a counselor (after speaking to 3 other people) and got an explanation for why the portal hadn't changed. He said that her child was actually on the waitlist. If, ultimately, she was on the waitlist, why didn't her status change on the portal?
I'm wondering if that is why my son's portal hasn't changed? Actually, I'm wondering if a lot of other "keep checking" status' means they are actually on the waitlist.
Does anyone who applied last year have any insight into this. Did it happen to you?
As May 1st approaches, we are anxious about UCF's decision and wonder if he will find out his was on the waitlist the whole time. If that's the case, then we would just assume know it now and move on with his decision.

My goodness, please forgive the typo in the title. I obviously did not backspace enough when retyping the title of the thread and didn’t catch it before I posted.

Lol actually I’ve been waiting for almost 3 weeks when I decided to email n advisor …then the next day …I got in…
Id recommend you to email one of the advisors.
Hope it helped.
GOD bless you.

Thank you for responding. He emailed the office of undergraduate admissions on March 30th to make sure they weren’t missing anything (it was just an excuse to email them and have his file pulled up) and he received an email back saying, “yep, we have it all…keep checking.” Did you email a specific advisor? What sort of question did you pose?

My daughter applied last October for the fall 2012 session as a freshman. She was informed in late November that she had been accepted - but only if she would start in the summer 2012 term. Otherwise, she would have been “waitlisted” and have to take her chances. Of course, UCF was the ONLY school she was interested in attending, so she immediately replied she would start in the summer term.

I’ve heard from others that if you don’t apply early, it takes forever to find out if you have been accepted, as the pool of applicants gets larger and larger from which to choose.

My daughter is an A/B student, with just a couple of AP classes under her belt, and no dual enrollment.

Hang in there, and good luck!

Lol I was worrying about orientation lol. So, I asked him :“can I go to orientation before acceptance in the case of late admission?” Then the next day he told me to go check my status and from a "Deferred " it switched to "congratulations "
And yes it was a specific advisor.

Hope it helped.
GOD bless you.
