UMass Amherst 2023 Decisions

Good read while your waiting for a response

Frankly @pama3115 , I was tempted to ask that exact question but I got my answer with the tone of the “I DO NOT KNOW”. Everything else out of my mouth would not have been productive. I just hung up.

It really is so frustrating. My two older children are happy at UML and UMass Amherst. And yes they are getting a good education. We will have three children in the state Higher Ed System next year. We do not get any Aid above their student loans. Both of the older two have always been on The Dean’s list ( oldest is CHC). I just cannot stomach the level of inefficiency juxtaposed next to these salaries. I am guessing like most families who turn to the state schools, we are a middle-class family that can barely make this happen for our kids. The faculty are doing their jobs. The clerical & managerial staff that my kids have dealt with have always done their jobs. The problem with this ridiculous decision process lies somewhere at the top and it is just wrong, again especially when you look at these salaries.Maybe they should put some Isenberg interns in decision making roles to develop and implement better processes and protocols! ?‍♀️

College admissions offices hiring part time readers is very common throughout the country; universities from UCLA to UConn to Northeastern to Princeton have been doing it for years. As a former admissions officer at a highly selective institution, some of the most dedicated readers we had were seasonal readers.

Accepted EA to Nursing on 12/17

So do we think any decisions will release tomorrow?

Sure hope so!!

Hi I was selected for Chancellor’s Scholarship(14k/yr) as an OOS student. But The financial aid came out to be only 16k(including the merit grant above). My family’s efc is under 1000 and was wondering if this is usual to get really little need-based aid for an OOS student.(I got 2.25k UMass Amherst grant, ig it’s need-based?)

I am totally confident in the caliber and ability of the professionals that read the applications…I think most of us here just cannot understand why Umass Amherst in particular takes so long to release the EA decisions. Many of us have heard from schools that get at least comparable Number of applicants
(maybe more ). My son was even thankful for the timeliness of a rejection from Ohio State. UMass Lowell has a very quick turnaround for the early application engineering students etc. The long, wait and process is where the frustration lies…

Nothing yet for me… anyone else?

Nope :frowning:

Nothing either! They have been dragging this for too long which makes me feel like I would never hear anything from them

unfortunately nothing here either

This officially sucks.
