UMASS Amherst Decisions 2022

I wasn’t expecting any decisions today, but since they’re apparently automatic, maybe we will?

I haven’t heard of anyone getting a decision since Thursday so I wouldn’t think any would be released today

Anyone think decisions could come tmmrw?

Wondering if they are closed this week

Last year’s thread had a lot of decisions on the 27th

whats last years thread?

Weighted GPA? How is it weighted, by your high school or did you re-weight it? The Massachusetts Department of Higher Education explains how they weight GPA’s for admissions at ALL state universities. Here is the rundown, All academic classes start at college prep and are weighted C 2.0, B, 3.0 A, 4.0. AP are weighted up 1 point so a B in AP English is weighted 4.0. All academic Honors level classes are weighted .5 So a B in Honors English is 3.5. Almost all high schools weight GPA’s for the purpose of class rank in different ways, so your 4.0 could be lower or higher. I suggest you re-weight it yourself to get a good grasp where you are. The SAT score is good I think. The class of 2021 profile was SAT middle 50% - 1190 to 1340

any decisions today?

not here. im in middlesex county. waiting to hear if Ive been admitted to Isenberg. Applied EA
WGPA 3.7 (not very good - I’m an A/B student, no honors classes; SAT 1510

Nope :frowning:

The 1510 should get you in

@topschoolsapplicant: to Isenberg? sounds like everyone applying is taking AP/Honors classes.
My school offers numerous AP/Honors. I didnt take any.
The standard classes are Advanced College prep (ACP). I took all ACP which puts me in the top 50% with a Wgpa 3.7

When you get accepted where does it say your scholarship awards? I’m curious so please answer if you have received any

@jjay a 1510 is a near perfect score on the SAT so considering that 98% of entire country scored lower your SAT score is good. Why didn’t you take honors or AP will be the question. Your GPA looks good but if your at a high school that offers acp you have to make sure 3.7 isn’t on a 5.0 scale. If it is then you are likely a 3.2 and that would cast some serious doubt on your SAT results, assuming new SAT scores.

A weighted GPA is out of 5. my 3.7 is out of 5. my school goes by a 5 because of the Honors and AP classes it offers. Literally anyone can get a 4.0 in my school by just taking the college prep classes rather than the Advanced college prep. And yes my unweighted is 3.3. I didn’t take honors or AP classes because I’m not one that enjoys 3 hours of homework each night. the Advanced college prep classes give enough homework for me to handle. I have a very busy social life. I earned my 1510 from a year of studying and taking 20 prep tests…I’m also very smart, just have a hard time sitting still…

got accepted today into computer science w/ flagship award!

GPA: 3.86
SAT Score: 1370

my S got accepted today!!! Undecided - Computer Science Track. --> what does this mean??

With Chancellor award (10k/yr)

@JJay obviously you are smart and I am guessing from what you wrote you have some ADHD like I do. It may be in your interest to explain that on your college application, or write a supplement. Your SAT score indicates intelligence but you are not a great student. A student with a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale should have an SAT score in the 1080-1180 range. In some cases a high SAT score and a lower GPA can work against you. All colleges are going to re-weight your GPA because most high schools weight grades near 5.0 scale which means most of the GPA information posted on websites like this are worthless.

My friend also got accepted into comp sci today. Seems like a lot of comp sci is coming out- hope they will still update the portal later today. Congrats to everyone!!!

Son accepted today. Instate, comp sci. 3.86 GPA (average GPA in naviance of accepted student from his HS is 3.62). 34 ACT (average ACT of accepted students 29).
