@Anthony185 - my son was accepted last week (I think Weds) and he got email today that his financial aid award was posted on Spire today. We are pretty much in same boat as you. 3.7/1400 in state. His only aid is the un subsidized $5500. Which is what we expected. Still just happy to be in.
Technically yesterday, i was deferred from Umass Amherst. This school seems to take the best applicants first for EA. Hopefully they’ll be accepting a lot more people who were deferred when the RD applicants roll in.

Does anyone know when financial aid packages are released? Is it like a couple of weeks after they inform you of the decision?
Cousin accepted yesterday. Journalism major. 3.48 UW GPA, 1170 SAT. Strong journalism experience and very good essay and extra question answers. Only took couple of AP, mostly honors classes but a few CP.
@tqv018 Congratulations! For reference, I was admitted in mid-December-ish, and received my financial aid award (a $5,500 loan) yesterday. I’m not sure if that timing matters. Also, I had submitted my FAFSA in the first week of October.
@HLGC Thanks for the reply. That’s pretty much what I am thinking–$5500 un-subsidized loan only. Just couldn’t find anywhere in SPIRE mentioned when they might be making it official. Like you, I am perfectly happy with that.
Not even mentioning the affordability and solid academic rep of the school, we live like 90 minutes away so my wife and I are REALLY rooting for our son to pick Umass over some of his other options…Temple, Loyola Maryland, Marquette, ASU, a few others.
90 minutes is the perfect “leave the nest” distance I think. Far enough for him to feel on his own, but close enough to get home on a weekend (or whenever.)
While we support wherever he ends up going, his mother-- and ok, probably me, are going to be a wreck dumping him off hundreds, or even a thousand miles away for the 1st time.
Accepted for History!
In-state
No merit or chc
97 gpa weighted
4 APs
1300 SAT
@sirhopesalot2654 congrats on getting in and getting CHC. Are you in state or not?
@Anthony185…yes we are in the same situation live about little over an hour away and hoping he picks UMASS…instead of Penn StAte or University of Washington.
I got into the college of natural sciences with a 3.5 weighted gpa and an 1170 on the SATs. I’m also in-state so that helped my chances as well. Still feeling super lucky. Can’t believe I got in!
@Joezzzzz, sorry I have to disagree, my son applied at UMass Lowell and UMass Amherst…he was accepted at both in the honors college at umass and invited to honors program at Lowell… both gave him merit scholarships.
DD admitted today Psych CHC, in-state; $2000 grant; high grades/scores. Feels very lucky. I wanted to pay forward the favor from those who posted their response dates and info in past years, because it’s helped me anticipate the highs and lows for DD (and us). But this is especially important info for fam’s worried about finances and trying to make decisions about EDII next year: For better or for worse, I write to say that one can get into CHC this late in the “early-action” game, at least if one has good numbers. I wish they could turn around decisions before the EDII deadlines, to help such fam’s, but I guess they’re swamped. Maybe it’s worth a call if you’re in that place? For all of those out there still awaiting answers: you’re in good company, from what I understand; they don’t go by counties (I learned), it’s more random than that, and they anticipate going past the 15th; they wouldn’t entirely rule out the 25th or beyond though they’re still saying “mid-Jan.” And for anyone receiving bad news, please know its not about you, even though you’re having to bear the burden: its a horrible, horrible system, biased toward those with resources, in lots of ways, even at a state school trying to help. Please hang in there because you are valuable, you have a right to be here, and the world desperately needs you to help change it. Don’t give up. Keep trying, and get as much help as you can. You can get there; there are lots of good options, and community colleges if you don’t make it at first. I know that doesn’t make it any easier…

Their admissions page on website still says they are continuing to post EA decisions through “mid-January.” Also, an earlier poster on this board (last week I think it was) said they called the admissions office, and were told that all EA decisions would be out by the end of this week. Crap, I hope so. We’ll see!
