<p>yup was hitting F5 from midnight until 2 am. and started refreshing after 6am. this is nerve racking.</p>
<p>guys, you will get acceptances with snail mail first than from spire. My son got letter yesterday, but his spire is still “under review”. Safe your nerves, Umass can send their acceptances till middle of january. So, relax and if your gpa is around 3.8 and sat 1800, you are in. Umass sends good news in waves. You could be in second wave. Good luck and happy holidays.</p>

<p>I am not sure which way will be this year. Last year first wave got letters first and spire followed. Second wave looks like was few days after. This year could be the same. Just guessing. </p>
<p>Here is the latest. I broke down and called when my son (with excellent stats) did not get a letter…I was told they send out letters 3x per week and have over 20,000 apps. Only one day (acceptances/rejections/deferrals) have been sent out. She said it could be awhile and there is no truth to speculation that the best apps get notified first. Hope that helps and keeps everyone sane! </p>
<p>@cbpmom i can see the letter delay but did they say anything about why spire ( electronic ) is not up to date?</p>

<p>sorry @ohrly123, I didn’t ask but based upon what others have said in past years, and what is happening on other schools sites, I don’t think that is unusual. I felt much better after speaking with them so hang in there!</p>

<p>I have a big thick envelope waiting on the counter per my sister. Can’t wait to open it. Heard back from 2 schools so far and both accepted. So far its a good December.</p>
<p>For everyone still waiting, take a breath. Son was accepted in mid January three years ago – the last of the early action wave and it was hard waiting that long. It was worth it. He is currently a junior and loves UMass! Daughter got accepted yesterday in the first wave of this season. They both applied in mid-October of their senior year. There is no predicting when you will hear and the delay has no bearing on what the decision will be. Spire is an old system and updates happen slowly regardless of whether it is posting acceptances, registrations, payments, etc. Most of the time you get paper first, but of course there are bound to be a few exceptions…</p>
