Anyone know when the next wave is coming out?

Congrats! Are you in state? My son applied to Isenberg EA and has not heard yet. We are out of state. Thanks. What major within Isenberg?

@emchda I never heard of UMASS giving a merit scholarship of $24000 per year. Are you certain? I understand that the maximum merit scholarship is the Chancellor Scholarship $12000 per year. (You must enroll for 8 consecutive semesters). Of course, need-based aid can be higher.

Just checked my status on Spire. I’m still under review, and I am an EA applicant.

UW GPA: 3.54
SAT: 1950 (M:710, R:620, W:620)

Do you have to say yes to financial aid question in the common app to receive a scholarship?

UMass does offer a full ride scholarship for National Merit finalists. Our daughter won that award for her four years there. It is competitive. Not all finalists are offered that scholarship. hoping our son may get that this year.

@ivyhopefulebound My daughter got accepted on Monday with decent merit aid but did not get into Honors College. I called admissions to ask if she could submit the results of her December ACT score for reconsideration for admittance into the Honors College and also for increase in the amount of merit aid she was awarded. To my surprise the admissions representative I spoke with was very firm in saying the decisions on the Honors College and also on the merit aid/scholarship were FINAL and not negotiable.

@rgr717 yes, I contacted the admissions office. they said that they gave me extra because of my extracurricular accomplishments. I will most likely not attend but it was a nice gesture. I didn’t need any financial aid.

Anyone know when another wave may come out?

Do they send out letters randomly or in alphabetical order how does it work ?

Random, no rhyme or reason. It has nothing to do with your grades or when you applied they just do it willie nillie. My S applied last year EA end of October. He was deferred end of Jan and wasn’t told until middle of April (around 18th) that he was accepted undeclared major and given 6K per year merit (we are OOS). As a side note,he started this past fall and loves UMass. Those that are waiting have not waited half as long as my S, so buckle down for perhaps a long time. His spire said under review for the longest time.

ACT 30
GPA 3.9
Leadership, Varsity Captain, APs, Honors
Accepted with 10,000 Chancellor’s scholarship. Was not invited into Honors program.

When did you receive your acceptance?

Just received package! Accepted with Chancellor’s Award to Isenberg School of Management! Great news on the heals of a deferral to Villanova!!! This must be the second wave of admits…check your mailboxes!

@chpmom - My D was accepted to UMass Isenberg (Dean’s scholarship and invited to the Honors college) this week too and she got deferred from Villanova yesterday too. Good luck!

Heard today via snail mail. Was really hoping to be accepted into Honors college but happy to receive Chancellor’s.

My son got his acceptance folder today. We are OOS. He was accepted into the Engineering program and invited into the Honors College with $10K merit scholarship (Chancellor’sAward). We called Financial Aid for clarification and it is indeed per year NOT per semester as some on here are claiming. Double check with FA folks and be sure what the final cost will be before you commit. emchda I am not clear how you could have gotten $24k per semester as that amount would exceed the total COA even for OOS students (which the acceptance letter states is $39,770).

In state? What major within Isenberg?

I got into Isenberg and the Honors college with a scholarship.
SAT-2100
SAT math2- 790
GPA-4.35
10 AP classes and honors throughout

@gardenivr my sons letter says $10000 renewable for 8 semesters. That is $20,000 per year, no??
