UMiami transfer

chance me transfer

hey everyone,

i recently have thought about leaving umiami since i don’t fit into the atmosphere. i love the school, what it offers, and it’s culture and location but i feel like i’m not being myself. my grades will end up not so good, around a 3.2. my high school gpa was way better and i excelled more with a 4.36. i was wondering my chances in transferring in business with a concentration in finance at the university of rochester.

if anyone can get back to be that would be awesome thx everyone.

totally different school and climate …why?

High school grades are not college grades. There is no weighting and grading is tougher. There are less overall grades and few chances for extra credit or class participation. This is just the reality and that will not be different at UofR or other colleges. Top students have the same struggles everywhere.

One thing to consider is merit and aid. Not all colleges award merit in the same way after freshman year.

Talk to someone at UMiami while you are exploring your options it sounds like many things are working. Look at some study abroad options if that works in your major. There are also domestic exchange programs that could be of interest.

i have visited rochester before and the campus was amazing. i also really liked how calm the campus was and how there wasn’t clubbing, partying, etc. the social scene is well balanced and the diversity at roc was better than miami. their curriculum is way different and more open compared to umiami, which has me taking a set schedule of 5 or 6 classes each semester for 5 semesters in the herbert business school. university of rochester is also arguably more prestigious and offers more research into healthcare administration. i also intend to go to graduate school, and u of roc is an interest of mine.

all great points…good luck!!

i 100% agree. i’m definitely going to give miami a chance since the opportunities are endless here. thank u

I just looked at your other thread that this is just your first semester of college. These are normal growing pains of first semester.

Keep looking at options, but also give this a chance. Find your people. Not everyone is going out to clubs, etc…

Look at your course schedule with your advisor. Did you have AP credits that transferred? You may be able to be less aggressive with your courses next semester so you can come up for air.
