Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me, I’m wondering what my chances are at UMN Twin Cities. I’m hoping to major in KInesiology in CEHD. I have a 25 ACT score (23E,31R,29S,26M) and a 3.1 U/W GPA. During my freshman and sophomore years, I went through some adversities and it killed my GPA. I got straight A’s Junior and Senior years. I have one legacy with my mom getting her masters at the U. I have good EC’s (2 Part-time jobs, 2 Varsity sports, Volunteer hours in community and Church involvement) I’m taking two concurrent enrollment classes this year and one CIS class, I will have 10 college credits when I graduate. I have never taken any AP or Honors classes…
Hi @caramelapple12 Your ACT is good and within the range for CEHD, however your GPA is a little bit lower than the average. That being said, you do say you faced some adversities and you clearly have shown what you’re capable of. I think you have a very good chance of being admitted into the program/college at the U. Not taking any AP or honors might hurt you slightly, but I don’t think it will do that much in the long run.
I read that they might accept everyone on the waitlist this year. They are expecting a 20% decline in the freshman class, 20% decline in transfers, 50% retention for international graduate and 10% decline of continuing students.
A regent recommended they accept all waitlisted students… The numbers of the worst scenario is terrible. Wonder how smaller schools will deal with this
@Jay101 no I did not appeal, the appeal is just for new information like a new act score or a serious life event happed after you submitted your app. I did email admissions a few times and had a phone call with the admissions counselor. writing a letter of continued interest will not help as it is a secondary factor and wouldnt make a difference
