Un-Official UCLA Appeals Thread 2011

Alright I guess I'll be the one to start this off, this thread is for those of us who aren't celebrating today cause we were rejected from UCLA. So here's where we'll explain our sitution and the strategies we're going to use, help each other out. Maybe a few of us can get this thing reversed eh? I'm new to actually STARTING threads like this so bear with me!

GPA: 3.03 - Part of my appeal is that it's actually 3.4x but SBCC drug their butts on academic renewal for the last twelve weeks.
Major: Psychology
TAP Certified, Completed IGETC
Essays: 9-10s, worked on them for about 4-5 months, since June
ECs: Volunteered for many months at Sacred Heart

Appealing On: My GPA being .4 higher (if not closer to .43 or so) than reported in the Fall. I'm including 2 letters of reccommendation with my appeal, as it says on the website. These letters are from the two heads of the Psychology department at WVC so they're the most important people at my school for my major - the "lower head" (if you can call her that) is the Neuropsychology professor, this being the field I want to specialize in makes this letter all the more expedient. In my letter I'm requesting they note the incredible positive grade trend (literally going from getting around a 3.0 at my best and a 1.8 at my worst to 2-3 semesters depending on how Spring '11 counts now at 3.8x-4.0) and take note of the great deal of hardship I've gone through with my family.

I’m appealing to. I have a 3.89 GPA TAP And IGETC complete.

They said I was missing Organic Chemistry and that My Biology class at LAVC was the same as COC.

I’m currently taking Organic Chemistry at UCLA Extension right now. My friend is in the same class, same major, and got admitted. Only difference was he wrote down “Chem XL14C Organic Chemistry” I wrote down “Chem 14c”. Therefore I am NOT missing OCHEM.

Also, Bio 106 at College of the Canyons independently articulates to Life Science 1 at UCLA, Bio6 at Los Angeles Valley College independently articulates to Life Science 2 at UCLA. I have also taken a biology class that articulates over as Life Science 3 & 4. All of this is according to assist.org and my syllabus. My bi 106 covered Evolution/kingdoms/etc…, my Bio6 covered photosynethesis, cellular respiration, organelles, etc… all the cellular Biology stuff + the systems"

What do you guys think my chance for success is?

I also have decent ecs,
