UNBELIEVABLE! A few UCLA transfer kids who got in!!

I'm not really clear about person B. Because she's not someone I know directly. She's my friend's sister. But I am assumming she wrote an awesome personal statement, and finished all or most of her required classes.

Person A went to Pasadena City College.
And Person B went to Rio Hondo College.

the thing that also made me go "wow", both person A and B are in impacted majors.

So, did Person B get into UCLA in 2004? If so...

Rio Hondo College -- 2004 Stats
91 Applicants
46 Admits

UCLA -- 2004 Stats

978 Applicants
452 Admits
Avg GPA of Admits: 3.61
Avg q/units of Admits: 100

This thread gives us some hope!

She's a junior now at UCLA.
She got in at Fall 2005.

I also hear that Governor Arnold was why the UC's admitted more students for Fall 2005. He gave more to the education budget which allowed more seats in the UC's.

Thats what I heard.

really? I'll have to vote for arnold if that's true...

Interesting. If what you say is true about Arnold then I'd have to vote for him. Then again, I highly doubt the other majority (fire fighters, police, teachers) of the population will approve of him running for governor for another term.

he was shoving those propositions down everyone's throats, and none of them passed.

i do know that gov arnold raised ccc tuition by 8 bucks, increased cal state tuiting and uc tutition as well. i think cal state tuition went up 200 percent.

i didn't hear anything about him increasing uc admission for transfers. although one time i heard him endorse ccc and asking students to go to ccc and then transfer.

My friend's gpa was 2.8 something when she applied for UC in 04 fall . Maybe her gpa was a little bit higher after fall 04. She was accepetd by UCLA, UCI, and UCSB. But she's not a science or business major.

but i thought the minimum GPA for consideration at UCLA is 3.2

Yeah, I knew of someone though, who got into Berkeley with a 2.9 GPA as a science major. She had a lot of extra-curriculars.

I dun think my friend had joined a lot extra-curriculars. She applied for both UC and CSU, and she through she would probably go to CSU Fullerton. But now she's in UCLA. It's totally a miracle!

I also heard from my friend that her friend got into UCLA with a gpa of 2.86! And that person's a biology major. She said she wrote about her mom and dad were divorcing in her personal statement.

shirley, are you serious? My were parents divorced too...

I'm not joking, it's true. Her story shocked everybody. My friend was a bio major and his gpa was 3.6, but he was not admitted to UCLA. He was so ****ed off after all :)

you can never know what the admissions office are looking for...

JUST WRITE A KICK ASS ESSAY EVERYONE!! But of course, don't disregard the grades. :)

**My parents were divoced too...

I am so nervous now.
