When filling out the self-reported classes on the UNC portal, is satisfactory progress (SP) option just a passing grade in a pass-fail course from the school I’m transferring from?
Guys does anyone know if you have to have the college transfer class to be admitted as a first year transfer?

@wdp3232 can you elaborate? not really sure what you mean
It’s a class called Aca 122 I just wanna make sure we didn’t have to take that
What do you guys think my chances are?
3.7 GPA from University of South Carolina after first semester of college
4.4 HS GPA
29 ACT
30 ACT super score? (Not sure if they do this)
2 Recs
High School Sports and High School activities.
@usctransferstudent tbh, none of us have a really good idea of where people stand but your HS GPA and ACT are good and your college GPA is around the average acceptance. Your chances will also depend on your ECs and it could hurt you some if all of your ECs are from high school and none in college. I may be wrong but college ECs would definitely help. If I had to guess, I would say you have a good chance. It really depends on your essays, LOR, and ECs. Your grades would get you in but they have the holistic approach to their applications so no one can truly tell, we can only guess where we stand
@wdp3232 I would say probably not since those types of classes are specific to community colleges and not everyone transfers in from a cc. I believe that class is a requirement for some associates degrees but not to be a transfer student in general.
@isuncforme493 ok so even though I’m coming from a cc i should still be ok right?
@wdp3232 I would check with them if you are concerned about it but I really don’t think it’s a requirement.

@isuncforme493 I took the aca transfer course at community college. This course is required for North Carolina cc transfer students graduating with a AA or AS degree from a cc. If you do not plan on graduating from cc then you don’t need to take it.
Literally, the anxiety I am feeling during this waiting period is unbearable. So, I’m a little bit of a non- traditional applicant. I am currently a freshman voice and political science double major at a school that is predominately a school of artists. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with a vocal cord issue, and it made me reevaluate my educational path. I spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital while at school. I also was born at 28 weeks and medical odds were not in my favor. I wasn’t supposed to have fully developed lungs, and for a long time my parents were told athletics and singing of any kind were out of the picture. Writing is my strong suit, and I think my essays and supplemental questions will be an advantage for me. I ended up writing my essay about defying the odds of medically and academically. However, I was diagnosed with testing anxiety as a kid so that is something I dealt with. So that makes me nervous about my ACT scores. I am also a rower, and have been rowing with a club team this year since my current school doesn’t have a team. I have been in contact with the UNC coach and visited the music school as well. I’d be majoring in voice with a minor in creative writing.
Stats
Prospective Sophomore (but would probably qualify as a first year transfer. I doubt all my credits will roll over)
HS GPA- 3.58 I went to a pretty challenging all girls academy
Majors: Voice & Political Science
College: Belmont University
College GPA: 3.6 which is Dean’s List Standing
ECs: I have a lot of EC’s. Student congress member, president of sustainability club, retreat leader through a competitive selection process, student athlete, student mentor for inner city kids, volunteer at an eco- farm where we grow fruits and vegetables for emergency food assistance, member of Student Activities Planning Board which is an interview process, and I nanny for two Carolina alums. Those are just a few of my college activities. In high school I was really involved. I submitted a four page resume which may seem excessive, but I don’t think it could hurt.
ACT- 25. This is what I’m worried about, but I really think my essays showcase what I want to pursue.
Two recommendation letters. One from my writing professor, and another from my high school music teacher.
I’m sure we all feel this way, but I just want the wait to be over. I also want to know if I have a chance or not.
@gwil7897 I was also born at 28 weeks too so I understand your medical problems and how much worse they can be for people like us. Your grades and ACT are a little below the average but with your situation I’m sure it definitely explains everything. No one can be sure of our chances but your ECs make up for your grades. Like I said we can’t tell, but I believe that you have over a 50-50 chance. Your essays can help and LOR but without knowing about them I can’t truly tell how your application will look
T-minus 5 weeks
Although I am nervous and anxiously waiting the admissions results, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I think its the two group projects and and two research papers that are due in a week or so have kept me occupied. Also working a stressful job full-time takes your mind off of the wait. I have decided that if I get into UNC I will not work full-time.
@uncletmein2017: Besides my classes, I have a part-time job. They keep me busy all the time.
I’m not sure that I can work if I get in UNC.
It’s not bad yet just wait until email goes out Day before decisions it’s the worst lol.
I’ve spent so much time thinking about UNC so far over spring break I actually wish I had more homework to do or work hours to keep me occupied. It’s definitely stressful but I’ve been planning backup plans as well which is helping me calm down.
@isuncforme493 I know what you mean by planning a backup. I have to start thinking about classes I will take at my current university UNCW if I don’t get into UNC. Advising and registration starts in about two weeks.
