@uncletmein2017 I have my registration appointment for next semester for uncc on Monday. I mean I guess it’s nice to have a schedule planned out and everything but registration is stressful enough as it is.
@jtut2006 The last two years people really start go crazy when the first wave of admissions notices go out and they are not in them. Then it gets even more heated when people start posting that they have registered for classes and some people still have not received word if they are admitted, rejected or waitlisted. Registering for specific classes that you want as a transfer at UNC I hear is very difficult. I hope registering for classes is better than I experienced at UNCW. I got into 0 classes that I wanted when I transferred. I recommend going on youtube and taking a look at the video that goes over how to register for courses at UNC. The system that UNC uses takes a bit of getting use to successfully navigate. It sucks to have to learn class registration system under the pressure of knowing spots in classes are being snatched up every second. I will let everyone in on a little secret. It might not be a secret for all I know. Connect Carolina will let you navigate through UNC’s course registration system. You can look at all of the courses and times they are offered for Fall 2017 and get familiar with navigating the system. I have even worked up a couple different schedules for the Fall so that I will be ready if I get accepted. A lot of transfer students make the mistake of waiting to talk with a UNC advisor before they register for classes. You can always change classes after you talk with your advisor.
@uncletmein2017 The directory of classes also helps to sort through the classes and times for next semester I’ve found. I’m ready to register as soon as possible. I know those biology courses fill quickly and they only reserve so many seats for transfers. But yeah I’m not fond of the whole shopping cart system. I’m so used to just typing the CRNs of all my classes, clicking enter, and being set for the semester.

Here’s the link for the youtube channel that has registration tutorials for anyone who needs it. Also, coursicle is very helpful for planning classes and schedules. I think it’s easier to search for classes on coursicle, especially if you are looking for courses that satisfy specific general education requirements (if you aren’t transferring in with an Associate’s degree).
@isuncforme493 It would be great if I could get all my classes on Monday and Wednesday and have a long weekend. Most of UNC classes meet just two days a week. If I get in I will be transferring with a AA degree and only need to complete 45 credit hours of course work if all of my classes transfer. This will allow me to take 4 classes a semester. I could take 5 classes a semester and graduate in 3 semester. At UNC 5 plus classes seem to be the norm. The thing is I not sure how difficult classes at UNC will be. I took 5 classes one semester at cc while working full-time and it sucked and my grades reflected the course load.
@uncletmein2017 Make sure to check if you need recitations as well! If you don’t have to take many classes that would probably work great. Last semester I had 18 credits all on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it really wore me out, but that’s having 6-7 classes a day, not 3 or 4. So that would be great if you could schedule that. Then you have plenty of time for work/homework. I wouldn’t take too many classes your first semester; I’ve heard the classes are more difficult than at the other UNC system schools. Try to stay in the 12-15 range. Maybe pass/fail an additional course.
I am a Bio major transferring from I’m Wake Tech. In my organic class there are 5 of us applying as transfers. All are very talented students. Looks to be a tough year.
@jtut2006 it will also depend on the major that people are applying for as well. The less that apply for a major the better chance you have but the major won’t play the biggest factor in admission. I’ve just heard that if a lot apply for a certain major that it makes it even harder to get in and vice versa.
My major will be Computer Science. I think it will be competitive.
How competitive do you guys think Economics will be?
Anyone else applying as a music major/ auditioned?
Guys I know you’re all excited about the possibility of getting to attend UNC, but I think you’re getting a big ahead of yourselves by already planning for class registration. Just relax, and focus on your school work / job / EC’s. The time will come where it is time to worry about class registration, but now is not that time.
@PalmTree55 So if we are already having to plan classes at our current universities for Fall 2017. Why would it not be beneficial to at least look at and or plan classes for UNC? I know at first glance it would seem like putting the cart before the horse. From my experience schools recommend that students take a look at their available courses and begin planning in advance so that when it is time to register for classes it is an expedited process.I would say now is the perfect time to be looking into what potential classes are available at UNC. I find that looking through UNC’s Fall 2017 courses actually alleviated some of my stress of the unknown about UNC. Taking and hour or so to plan classes does not equal worrying or stress to me and it does not take away from school work, job, and EC’s.
I always think planning is a good idea. With midterms ending and spring break underway, it’s the perfect time for me because I’m not so busy. By the time April rolls around it’s time to study for finals and practicals and getting ready for summer classes.
Should I get part time job already hahaha jk
Anyone care to chance?

@Sarangatang sounds like you have a great shot, for sure!!
Hello everyone! I successfully transferred in last year. If anyone has any questions about the process, campus life, etc, feel free to post them or message me.
Also, if we could avoid the “chance me” type questions though that would be nice. I am not in admissions, so I can’t really speak to whether you will or won’t get in other than by guessing. Anything else though, ask away!
Man, this waiting game is killer! April cannot come soon enough. Something fell through with my safety school and unfortunately I can no longer apply there, now I am really praying I get into Chapel Hill!
@TranslationLost Wow fantastic! Thank you! Great to know there is someone who has been through this entire experience out there to talk to
