UNC 2017 Transfer Student Thread

Here we go!!! In one of my classes there are 8 students who have applied to transfer to UNC. Its going to suck if I don’t get in.

I have followed this board for two years and I only now know how stressful the UNC admissions process is.

@uncletmein2017 Damn what school do you go to that so many kids are transferring? Also what year are you?

I’m not trying to be that guy, but I’ve already convinced myself that I’m not getting in. That way if I don’t, I won’t be let down

@Mastodon97 i can guarantee you that their admissions are holistic. They sent me an email saying that they needed more information about a small disciplinary offense from my 10th grade year of high school. Thats about as holistic as it gets…

@aftfl12 that seems really random. Did you have to contact your high school? What was the offence?

@johnpfc3 yeah thats what i thought too. and yeah i did. my counselor didn’t even remember it until I reminded her fully of what happened. It had to do with drinking and a football game but I was just proven to be involved but not actually drinking. wasn’t suspended or anything. thought it was pretty odd that UNC needed to know more than what I already wrote on the common app. Not sure what it means for my chances…

I would read too much into an incident that happened 3 years ago. It’ll probably have little to no impact on your application. What are your stats?

HS GPA: 3.68 W but it was a really hard private boarding school
College: NYU
College GPA: 3.675
ACT: 33, 34 superscored

@aftfl12 Ok you’re probably going to be accepted lol

@aftfl12 So what was the disciplinary action taken against you that you had to put it on your application?

@aftfl12 I go to NYU too!

I had to do what my school called a "saturday workday @heyitme

Wow that’s really weird that unc would ask for such a little thing, hope you get in!

@uncletmein2017 I am currently junior at UNCW . I graduated from Cape Fear Community College in December. I am taking my final required Spanish course at Cape Fear Community College as a transient study student this semester. I figured Spanish at CC would be easier and I needed to keep my GPA up. My Spanish class at CC is filled with students wanting to transfer to UNC. I would say statistically one or more of us is not getting in. Although I hope we all get in. If I don’t get in it will make going to class a hard one.

Do you guys think have ECs that involve your intended major will help you? Just curious because a few of my ECs would help me in my major and show I have strong interests

Anyone have any good movie suggestions? I just finished everything for the day and I know it’s going to be a loonnnggggg night for me.

@isuncforme493 “How I got into College”

I am really thinking the admissions decisions will start coming out tomorrow or Monday. Last year UNC’s Spring Holiday was Friday, March 25th. This year UNC’s Spring Holiday is Friday, April 14th. I think admissions would like to have decisions out before the Easter Holiday weekend being that Easter is a lot later this year than last year.

It’s going to be a long night…
