715 out 3000+ try again and plus cstep gets priority. Plus you have to remember you are applying to individual departments.
So the pool gets smaller.
https://oira.unc.edu/files/2016/12/cds_2016_2017_no_H_20170105.pdf - Their official common data set says otherwise. 46%.
I know 715 enrolled it says on their page and like near 3k applied. But waitlisted is included into accepted. Since technically you are but not really.
2,772 applied > 1,271 admitted > 814 enrolled. Stats from the most recent class, straight from the admissions department as of last week.
I knew it was something like that
814 out of 2800 cause the waitlist was like 450
How do you know that?
@jtut2006 That is not correct, students who are waitlisted are not the same as admitted. The 450 would be students who applied, were accepted and opted not to enroll.
Oh
Anywho excited about my chances this year definitely improved.
Anyone want to give me my chances?
Hi @BryantB02 …your stats look very impressive! I think you have a great shot You have a strong GPA and you have interesting ECs… you definitely have that “holistic” application Chapel Hill is looking for
Sent in my application last night! Chapel Hill has been my dream school since I was a little kid. Does admissions look down on students sending in applications too close to the deadline? So nervous :-SS
I really don’t think there would be any reason for them to take the date of submission into account. I submitted mine in September and I completely regret doing so because I picked up more ECs and changed my reason for transferring along the way. And, since it is a transfer application, they know most students are going to work on them over breaks. If your application was as strong as you could make it, and it was submitted on time, then I would relax for now. Good luck!
@katherinerose19 thank you! My GPA was lowered badly my sophomore year because I had two concussions and was unable to do work for a while so I got behind. I’m not sure if that’s worth mentioning or not. Btw, the concussions weren’t my fault
I was just wondering what you guys thought about my chances. I attend a small state school in Alabama, and I’m currently double-majoring in Political Science and History with a minor in French. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, and I self-reported an ACT score of 28. I am applying as a junior.
My extracurricular activities include the presidency of my campus’ College Democrats, the treasurership of its Mock Trial Association, the equivalent of the vice presidency of its Model United Nations Club, a seat on the county’s Democratic Executive Committee, and a job at Walmart that I left in mid-January.
I have earned a spot on the Dean’s List for all three semesters I have attended my current institution. I’ve also earned a regional tournament award for my role on the mock trials team, and I’m a two-time recipient of the Woodmen of the World’s American History Award.
My letters of recommendation are undeniably sparkling. One professor even commented that she did not want me to leave my current institution, because of the quality of student I am. My personal statement has a clearly stated need to transfer, and I tried to be unique in my prompted essays. What do you guys think?
@starkricochet Yeah I’d say you have a great chance at getting in. Not gonna say you’re a lock though, since none of us can know for sure.
@BryantB02 I wouldn’t worry too much about this, but you could mention it! Wouldn’t hurt
@isuncforme493 Awesome, thank you! Good luck to you too!
