submitted! good luck to all and see you on the other side hopefully!
This thread is starting to pick up wooo. Everyone is getting excited. Just wait until week out when decisions go out.
Hey guys, do you think I have a shot?
I’m applying as a first-year student with 26 completed credit hours after this semester.
HS GPA: something like 3.0
CC GPA: 3.54
ACT: 26
EC’s: run my own blog (fishfliez.com), paid internship (40 hours a week) for the past year still doing it, worked for tech-recycling startup, worked at several other fast food resteraunts
LOR: good LOR from carolina business grad, my supervisor, and to CC prof.
My essays were pretty good. Essentially, I just talked about how I plan to improve given that I have never really had the chance to focus solely on my education. Hoping that my experience working for a tech-recycling startup and other internships will carry most of the weight.
Anyways, what do you guys think? What should I improve on should I get denied?
Since you would not have above 30 credits hours, you’d be technically a freshman right? Your stats alone could sway you either way without knowing your high school GPA. Your ECs seem very strong and your LOR will definitely help you. I would say you have a good shot. If you do get denied, I’d focus on improving your CC GPA as much as possible because the longer you’re there the more those grades will matter compared to your high school stats.
To everyone wondering about the judge, I participate in a program known as Teen Court. Also, I submitted 5 because originally my application was for first-year. I am a Early College Student…
@wdp3232 sorry, I forgot to tag you earlier
I know this doesn’t apply to many of you since you’ll have an Associate’s Degree, but does anyone know how strictly the English 105 portfolios are graded? Are they pass/fail or do they factor into GPA? Of course this all depends on acceptance, but I know a lot of courses from other UNC system schools don’t transfer and I’d like to maximize time within my actual major…
I’m applying as a sophomore transfer with 27 completed semester units currently and will have 46 by the end of this semester. I go to a California Community College, highly regarded in the state relative to other community colleges.
HS GPA: 4.12
CCC GPA: 4.0 (I expect to get a 4.0 next semester as well)
ACT: 31
EC’s: I would say average EC’s, nothing that would significantly boost or weaken my application . I talked about the clubs I do now and in high school. I have coached basketball for Boys and Girls Club for 3 Years. Some other volunteering. I listed my tutoring job, and other past part time jobs.
LOR: I expect a great one from my Writing 1 Honors professor, I always went to her office hours. I expect a fairly good one from my calculus professor, I went to office hours quite often, and apparently got a top 2 score on my class final.
My essays were pretty good. I discussed how I am interested in utilizing all the resources at a larger institution, and work with professors and other students in the fields of business, economics, and finance. I also mentioned my time spent in the Honors Program at my school, and how it prepared me well to be a transfer student. The UNC specific essays I think I did decent. I talked about how my dad was inspiring to me being an immigrant from South Africa. I also said in the other prompt that there would be a breakthrough in information being distributed via social media and technological platforms. Overall, I would say my essays aren’t a pull to get me in, but I doubt they hurt me in anyway.
I put Major: Business Administration, because I plan to try and transfer into Kenan Flager after a year.

What do you think my chances are of getting in ?
Also Good Luck to all the other students, many very qualified applicants in this thread.
@ConnorGrant19 I think you have a good chance of getting in. Your test scores are really good and your GPA will definitely help. Your ECs aren’t great but your grades and scores should definitely make up for that. As long as you have good essays and LOR you’ll be fine
Any other opinions on my chances?
Does anyone know how UNC compares the old SAT test score with the new SAT test score? I know that the new SAT is a bit easier so I am wondering if their is a conversion or something?
@kingjulian6 you take just your math and reading scores
@BryantB02 Yes, but is there a conversion of some sort since the two tests are different?
They’d probably look at percentiles. They should be listed on the test score page on ConnectCarolina.
Anybody else want to give me my chances? I can repost my stats
