UNC 2017 Transfer Student Thread

Econ, but am going to apply to the business school once i get there. I took business stats at my current school and have AP Stat credits. Really don’t want to take another stats class which is required from for the second econ class in the pre-reqs. @sreya124

@Collegehelp4us where are you transferring from?

Hello, everyone! I was wondering if someone could help me read my financial aid report (it’s not a joke-- I’m just really unaware of how schools work in the US). Please? I think I was given the covenant award, but I don’t wanna tell my folks until it’s a sure thing.
I’ll provide some of my info, since it can be used for future applicants.
CC in Miami (so, I am out of state)-- would be entering as a junior.
Major is… undecided, but I declared myself an English major at my CC.
GPA: 3.8 at the time of applying.
High school GPA was okay: unweighted 3.3-- weighted 4.9 (which I think really helped in the end to take so many honor classes in high school).
Did not send ACT/SAT scores because they were really terrible.
I think my essays were okay. They were about my cinema obsession and LGBTQ issues.
I got a physical letter of acceptance 4 days ago, but I received an acceptance e-mail earlier this month.
I received an e-mail regarding the financial aid report just a few hours ago (4/28).
I applied exactly the day of the deadline and send in all the FAFSA/CSS Profile materials before the deadline.
I have yet to accept their offer because I want to be sure if I can afford it, but if they are generous to me as well, I’ll definitely be there in the Fall
Also, congratulations to everyone that have heard good news. And to the folks that didn’t, don’t give up. Something great will come your way-- ‘just keep swimming.’

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I got my credit evaluation sheet a week and a half ago. They accepted most of my classes, except for a few that were only worth 1 credit.

Alright guys so I’m gonna be a freshmen at ecu this fall but my ultimate goal is to go to UNC next year as a transfer and I’m getting scared reading some of the stats of rejections with high scores. Is someone willing to kind of work with me and guide me as to what exactly I need on my application next year to get in?? Also, if someone is willing to share their essays it would greatly be appreciated.

focus this year on your GPA and word of advice take classes that are transferable but challenging. My son got in as a transfer sophomore from out of state with a 3.75 gpa. He was top 15% in hs with a 33 ACT score. In terms of his essays, he was straight to the point. I do recommend that you embrace whatever school you are going to and get involved. Good luck!

Thanks! @Collegehelp4us

When is the deadline for deposits for incoming fall 2017 transfers? And when can waitlist transfers expect to hear back?

@YankeesBeisbol May 15th for the deposit, but I have no idea about the second question

Does anyone know how to take yourself off the waitlist? Do I have to email them?

If you got accepted to UNC chapelhill for your sophomore year, how hard is it to transfer into Kenan Flagler school? I am talking about class difficulty/curve of classes. Can someone let me know when you can apply for KF after starting in August and what do they consider to accept into their business school? TIA.

@sreya124 I believe I read online that it is about 50% of internal transfers. Not sure when the application goes in. Check their web site or call. They were very helpful when I called with questions.

Looks like we need to apply during September of this year. Hope they consider my GPA from my current school…

@sreya124 whats the GPA from your current school and which school?

NU - first semester - 3.83 and second semester 3.752.

@johnpfc3 Will you be applying for KF? Can you please share your stats?

@Sreya21 yes i am. 1st year GPA: ~3.75 at top 20 USWNR school SAT: 2200 OOS

@johnplc3 Will KF consider SAT score?
