@Lauren_Kirk My son in in state with a 35 superscore, 4.0 UW and 4.65 W and was also denied honors college.
Has anyone heard about the direct admit programs or any of the scholarship programs?

Son Accepted Honors Assured admit business-OOS Virginia - White male, 1500 SAT, GPA 4.4W/4.0UW #1 rank in class, Class President, Started non profit, national award, DECA State awards, Eagle Scout, 15 APs (including sr year), 10 Dual enrollment, Lots of other leadership, great recs. Definitely considering. Does Honors receive any merit scholarships?
OOS Rejected.
1500 SAT - one sitting. 5.03 weighted GPA with 9 AP Classes. Level 10 gymnast - nationally competitive (injury ended career). Lots of genuine leadership. Select but strong volunteer activities (couldnât fit more with 25 hours a week in the gym). And the result? Not enough!
Sincere congrats to all who made it! You should be very proud!
Daughter admitted OOS! Beyond excited! Was the Honors Carolina acceptance in a separate letter? Thank you!!
Congrats have read unc is fond of Deca, nice job.
Hi there, my daughter got in OOS. Was the acceptance to Honors Carolina in a separate letter than the acceptance to the university? Thank you!
Same for my DD, OOS similar stats, just replace AP with IB diploma candidate and a few other niche ECs. Deferred from NEU too.
Hang in there, you will land right where you need to be, just keep positive.
It was a separate letter on portal
Odds of clearling the WL are extremely lowâŠesp OOSâŠsee link in this thread above for dataâŠthey waitlist almost as many as they admitâŠand the yield isnât that great, so they admit a lot more than the class sizeâŠthe net result is that theyâd need a really low yield to go to the wait list in any meaningful wayâŠand even then, there would be a strong IS biasâŠlast year only a dozen or so OOS WL got inâŠout of like 6k iirc.
Amazing stats,shell land somewhere great
The business school is not direct admit and is actually very difficult to get into. Average accepted GPA is around 3.7 and even above that many are rejected. If your son decides on Chapel Hill, he needs to be comfortable with the possibility he will not get into the business school and will need to have an alternative plan.
Iâm a bit confused by the pressure to accept? He has until May 1 to commit.
Rejected OOS ,4.5 W GPA , 1520 one sitting
OOS Accepted. Kind of shocked, first person in 3 years to get in from my high school (kids got into Harvard, Stanford but not UNC)
34 ACT (35 superscore)
4.0 UW/4.5 W GPA (out of 5.0 but 4.5 is max possible GPA at my school)
i think what got me in honestly was that I have a lot of work experience in computer science which is my major. And I explained that in my essays.
Idk if someone says this earlier but how would we know if we got a scholarship or a special program?
Thank you! I am in IB as well. Good luck with the rest of her decisions, I am sure she will end up somewhere great.
My son has two extra links under his admission letter. One for Honors and one for Scholarship. Each link takes us to different letters
Daughter accepted. In state, 33 ACT/4.0 UW, 4.66W, homeschooled (but all AP/DE for grades 11 and 12), leadership, travel sports. Strong across the board - Iâd say the ACT is the weakest part of her resume, but homeschooling adds a wildcard element. She wasnât too confident in this one because it was her first application and sheâs made lots of improvements since. Congrats to those who were accepted. And if you werenât NO WORRIES! Youâre obviously all great students and youâll land right where you belong!
Son rejected. OOS, 4.6 GPA, 1570 SAT, 35 ACT, National merit, 8 APs, ranked 1st in class, executive leadership position at school, lots of extracurriculars and service. Luckily UNC had fallen on his list so that softens the blow a little.
I got in! OOS, accepted to honors and to accelerated research! Where can I see if I got a scholarship?
I got admitted but Iâm facing a little dilemma.
On the common app, I reported that I was going to take Accounting I Honors at my school during my second semester of senior year. However, I ended up dropping that and decided to take Financial Accounting as a dual enrollment credit (which is counted as AP at my school). Should I tell the admissions office about this or can I just leave it since itâs just an increase in rigor?
Edit: I didnât report the Financial Accounting course when I submitted the common app.
