@run2run I’m in the same boat as you, hopefully I get a chance to visit (if accepted).
@keepdreamin1023 Very impressive! You have a high chance of getting in.
@keepdreamin1023 what other schools have you applied to?
Two more weeks. I just can’t wait…!
I am ready for this semester to be finished. It has been real.
I have came to peace with my highly likely rejection. Decisions should be out soon. If we are lucky, they may be released early like a few years ago.
@LOVEUNC I’ve applied to USC, NYU, and Texas A&M. I really want to go to USC or UNC. When I was a senior in high school these were my top schools, but circumstances came up and I had to stay in my home-state.
@Maximascientia how early where they a few years ago?
hi all! if it helps – i’m a senior transfer student here. economics major.
my stats were: out-of-state community college student (MD) with 3.9 GPA and a decent amount of extracurriculars and work experience. however, i did not have great grades in HS or stellar test scores.
i wish you all the best of luck.
let me know if you have any questions, especially specific to the transfer experience.
i’ll be graduating shortly, but UNC was the best decision i ever made.
also, out-of-state does not affect your chances as greatly as it does when you’re applying directly out of high school.
@keepdreamin1023 let’s hope our dreams come true. I am getting a little restless. Hopefully decisions could come out next week.
Some people got their decision around the 10th where I lived in 2013. I think in 2013 Easter was in March. Someone on the previous page mentioned it too.
Maybe the releasing of decisions depends on when Easter falls.
I think Carolina wants more OOS. In the 2013 transfer Report, they accepted more OOS than NCCCS. However, that was after the discussion in 2012 about the school revenue needed to go up, so the government was trying to increase the maximum percentage of OOS from 12% to 18%.
I guess if you are OOS or a NCCCS, you have a good shot with the right grades.
@Notorious8893 : Could you tell us a bit about your experience? Was it easy to make friends after you transferred? Di you get that “College” experience ? Just curious (even as a transfer in general)
i did. i lived in connor dormitory my junior year (decided to live off-campus my last year). several transfer students were on my floor. although i wish i would’ve started at carolina freshman year, it was fairly easy to make friends. however, i will say that i found it easier to make transfer friends.
i’m biased, but i think north carolina epitomizes what the college experience should be- quintessential college town, excellent academics, and top-notch athletics. but, if you do attend, don’t be hard on yourself and expect that it’s going to all come together within the first three days- it takes a little time to make friends and feel a part of the community.
my best recommendation for incoming transfer would be to live on-campus the first year- it will help you become integrated into the community. @strandedinhell what do you plan on studying?
@Notorious8893
I plan on studying computer science. For that reasons you’ve mentioned I want to live on Campus if I do get in (no matter where I get in) it seems like I will get that experience I’m after to at least some extent. Are you an outgoing person in general? I believe I am but like many I have a difficult time opening up at first.
i’m reserved initially, but open up with time. excellent, i have a couple friends in CS and they’ve experienced a lot of success obtaining internships/jobs in the triangle. I also have one that is working for a top-notch firm in SF postgrad.
@strandedinhell where else are you applying? i haven’t had a chance to review thread- are you in-state or OOS?
@Notorious8893 :
I’m only applying UNC-CH, NC state and if none of those then App state. I’m in state, from a local CC. I have a 3.9 something GPA and will have my associates by the end of spring. Other than that I don’t have many EC’s (was on the community college math team).
I think I’d have a decent chance but I took two classes in the summer of 2014 in UNC to get my associates faster. The classes were really short and I got a C+ and a B. I’m just worried these two grades will have a negative impact.
@strandedinhell i think you’ve got a great chance! i don’t think the C+ and B will have too much of an impact on decision, because 1.) those aren’t that bad of grades (particularly at UNC too) and 2.) summer classes are difficult, especially in a new environment. keep me updated. also don’t want to monopolize this read, but best of luck to all.
So are decisions release on the 15th or around there?
@Notorious8893 Thank you! I hope so too
@keepdreamin1023 Yes. After 15th the decisions should start coming.
Looking good
