Sounds like it
Sounds like they might have overshot their Class size
Sounds like there is no space available right now, which is weird because I know of many people who decided to decline UNC.
Thatās not surprising. Most colleges in America, including UNC, are rejected by far more students than enroll. So theyve got this built into their model - offering enough acceptance to hit their target size.
At our UVA session, the first thing they said was that more of you will say no to us even though weāll say yes to you.
UNC does have a high yield - about 45% in the last published data but Iām sure OOS will be lower. A Case Western, as an example, has a 15% yield and that includes ED.
Schools of pedigree all sound great until parents are faced with paying the bill - and then an in state or high merit school sounds much better.
I called admissions to ask- they said they havenāt made any offers yet but will likely make a few as theyāre closely monitoring the list.
I just feel this year will be extremely tough on waitlisted students, weāll just have to wait and hope for the best. Iād compare it to a plane being overbooked and UNC is that plane and weāre the passengers. My entire senior friend group got in except for me and another, weāre both waitlisted. In the end, if weāre set for UNC, weāll get there!
has anyone from the UNC waitlist gotten their decision yet? any idea when they are gonna start their first round of decisions?
From what has been mentioned, there will probably be very few spots opening. Just have to wait.
hmm I hope they release the decision soon I got off another waitlist but my heart is really set on UNC.
You should assume you wonāt get off the waitlist at this point. They are not offering any waitlist spots right now. Choose your best offer and if UNC comes through, you can change course.
hmm ig ill apply next year again too, I want to accept the other offer but the uni is so expensive so im really considering a gap year now lol. well lets hope for the best! I will just wait ig
i asked about enrollment and they said
āour enrollment numbers were strong this year. We will continue to monitor the numbers closely and make waitlist offers where we can, but we expect this to be a small number of students if any.ā
When an accepted student declines it does not mean that a waitlist spot will open up. Schools accept more students than they need to fill up a class.
Has anyone here submitted a LOCI? I donāt know if I shouldā¦
their decision letter said that they donāt really recommend lOCI bcs their decision will be based on previous application and updated grades so Im not really sending one
plus Iāve kinda already accepted the fact that they wonāt be accepting anyone of the waitlist so yeah
Thatās what I thought, but they said āletters of recommendation,ā and now Iām just thinkingā¦ is it too late to even write one to them? At this point, we just have to think we didnāt get in so we donāt get disappointed, and if we do get in, itāll be very exciting! (Plus I think I saw their common data set, and they donāt track interest?)
the loci for UNC is a super blurred topic because people get in with and without one and itās not really recommended. i sent one in because I had some pretty big updates, but I wouldnāt send it in if I didnāt have any updates to my application
Thanks! It is very blurredā¦
Honestly I donāt think itās too late especially if you are willing to accept a possible offer as late as June. I sent one earlier today and it only took a few hours before I got a response. The response included that they would add my LOCI to my application.
