Hey I wanted to know the differences in atmosphere, social setting, people, and overall any "non-academic" major differences. I don't want to know how much more prestigious UNC is or how NCSU is better in science/engineering. The billions of forums up here have made that clear and I personally feel that both schools would offer quality education. This is solely non academic! Opinions appreciated. I just want some ideas. I heard the people the go to each school are very different, but was never told how.

Let me preface this with the fact that I am a State fan born and bred. That is where I intend on going and love everything about it. With that said, I will now be as impartial as possible.

Honestly, they are very similar. Both student bodies are extremely behind their sports teams. Although State may give off a feel as a more conservative University, I would say they are similar in their “political climate” if that is what one could call it. All college students are pretty much just looking to figure out who they are and whatnot and that will be the same at both schools. Both schools have a whole lot to do around campus. Overall, their main differences is really only academic, and the only other differences that you will see past that are in the individuals, and there is enough diversity at both places that you can choose who you want to be around. So I would say, look at which is more affordable, and look at which has better academics for what field you want to do. Choose from that. You are the most important factor in making college awesome, so make your choice and have a great time wherever you go :)
