I'm wondering if there's a way for adcoms to distinguish between the two types of absences (excused or unexcused). I'm pretty sure it just shows up, if at all, as "Absences" and does not differentiate the two. Does anyone know about this? I may have some unexcused ones (albeit not many) due to my parents forgetting to call in/judging that I wouldn't be able to go to class for whatever reason (never just skipping to skip). I'm a current junior. Thanks for any input!

School attendance records are not examined as they are irrelevant for college evaluation. Indeed, some schools don’t even include this data with transcripts/school reports. You’re safe!

They really don’t care, as long as you’re not a truant. I had tons of unexcused absences, even had to file attendance appeals, I was fine.

Even if they’re during your junior year? (I’m not talkin ones in senior year after you’ve been admitted or anything.)

I had a lot in freshman year, a lot in sophomore year, more in junior year, and few in senior year. I’d be surprised if schools even sent the information.

But believe what you want to believe.

^ what do you mean, “believe what you want to believe?”

If your attendance record appears on your transcript, someone somewhere sometime might question it. However, unless your attendance is so shaky that it appears you have been truant, it really isn’t likely that anyone will care. Ask your guidance counselor what his/her particular experience with this is.

What T26E4 means is you have the same answer multiple times and still question it. Read Happymom’s post again.

Oh, thanks for explaining Erin’s Dad. That’s pretty mean of T26E4. I’m obviously curious/worried about this and want to be as sure as possible that these absences won’t reflect poorly on my character.
