Unique situation - Non-Traditional transfer to UVA or GWU from Community College

So I have a unique situation. After graduating high school in 2007 I did not go straight to college. Instead I started two businesses and a nonprofit microfinance organization with a base in Nigeria and new site opening next year Mumbai, India. I knew I did not want to go to college right away because I was not sure as to what exactly I wanted to do. During this time I’ve had a hell of an experience in the private and public sectors.

It has now been a little over 3 years and I know exactly what I want to do with my education. I started attending community college this fall. There are so many programs I want to jump right into and my community college does not offer them. So I want to transfer out to either McIntire, UVA for Economcis, or GWU for next Fall 2011.

Here are my stats
High School GPA 3.2
SAT 1330 (Horrible, I definetly will take it again if I can)
EC – Sooooo much, real leadership (2 successful startups and a nonprofit I co-founded and currently serve on the executive team, plenty of references)
Currently enrolled in 12credits this fall
Will do another 15 next semester

1) Do you guys think there is a possibility I can transfer for next Fall (2011) or I will have to finish the two years at community college?

2) What do you think my chances are with McIntire, UVA for Economcis, and GWU

Appreciate all the help.

With all due respect, how did you start 3 successful businesses in 3 years? Are these real businesses with employees and revenue? Who will run them while you’re in college? If you’ve really accomplished this, apply to Wharton.

Which community college are you studying at? Is it in Virginia? If it is, you need to make an appointment with the transfer counselor there and ask about the guaranteed admissions programs at the public universities in Virginia.

2college2college - Thanks for your insight and reply. I started both my senior year of high school, which was what really pushed me to not want to go to college right away. Yes, they are real businesses - 1) currently 42 employees and does a little less then 2million in revenue and 2) 5 employees and 250K in revenue.

The non-profit, I’ve been lucky to have an amazing group of people that are committed. We all started this together and have support from tons of other organizations and institutions.

I’m currently trying to hire someone to take on the day to day management, so when I leave everything stays kosher.

I’ve looked at Wharton - I just thought my high school stats may really count against me (how important are they?).

Also - Should I continue at this community college and finish an associates OR do you think I should apply for admission in the Fall of 2011.

If you can up the SAT score I’d try Wharton and Stern. I would not finish the associates unless it’s a means to transfer to an in state school.

Babson? Would that work for you? They really like entrepreneurial types.
