University of Alabama scholarship

If this is the case, then will attending a semester of community college be viable? I know of a CC ( Green River Community College ) that starts in December that I could apply for now and after 6 months get my credits transferred to UA. Is this a possible solution?

An international student coming to go to school in Florida will pay (without considering scholarships) about $23-24K a year at the two-year community college ($12K tuition and fees and estimated $11K living expenses.). Then transferring to the four-year university, for example, University of Central Florida, costs will run about $33K a year ($22K tuition and estimated $11K living expenses.). So here in Florida, as it also was in California, all things considered (except scholarships) the cost of attendance at the community college will be cheaper than at the four-year university.

Now what makes Alabama compelling are the scholarships. I know because my got the Presidential plus engineering and if he ends up in Tuscaloosa, we will only have his living expenses. Those costs are comparable to staying in Florida and going to UF or UCF. Alabama has the distinct advantage to him of not being in Florida.

So for the OP, yes, of course, if a four year school offers significant merit aid, then free money is always the cheapest route. But the student has to get that merit aid and international students face more obstacles.

Best thing to do is crunch the numbers and contact the international student departments at the desired schools. As that article stated and as I observed, the community college to four year path has many benefits beyond the cost of tuition, especially for those international students who cannot easily demonstrate the level of achievement necessary for being offered merit aid.

Wondering if Univ of Alabama will offer their out of state scholarship for the 2015 HS class (current juniors). Sounds like a great deal and hoping it continues!

Well, Bama has been doing this for several years now. I can’t see them stopping soon. Good luck.
