University of Central Florida Admissions Fall 2022

DS applied in October, still waiting.

Obviously, with FSU coming out last week and UF this week, does anyone know how long it takes for UCF to send acceptances as spots may free up from Top 10 Knights and others who select another school?

Also, regardless of the school your child chooses, please remind them to withdraw their application from any school that they have eliminated from their list – it could be another kid’s first choice.

We applied October 25th and finally heard back February 25. Four months. We applied directly to the summer term and she was offered the summer access program. Good luck to all of you still waiting. It’s excruciating, but hang in there.

Got in to UCF! Do I have to accept my offer + pay 200 to see my tuition and other fees? I started a myUCF account but I can’t see any financial details. Also, any ideas/tips for picking dorms, meal plans, roommates etc?

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!

Yes, you need to accept the offer and pay the deposit – but that has nothing to do with seeing your financial account information. It is, however, VERY important in selecting your dorm.

First financial stuff. UCF will not know your amount due until you ENROLL and you are a few steps from that. The Friday of the first week of classes is the Drop/Add deadline, and your tuition is not final until after that.

The week AFTER classes start, your tuition and fees will appear in your Student Account, and you have a certain period to pay them. That gives an appropriate time lag for the accounts to be updated. There are also payment plans available.

If you have any questions, CALL Student Accounts. They are VERY helpful, as are the folks from Undergrad Admissions. Great folks!

Dorms. First, there are two types of dorm contracts. Most of the dorms are under “Academic contract” which means only for the Fall and Spring semesters. Towers and Northview use “Annual contracts” meaning Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. With that Annual contract, you get a pretty good discount for Summer – but you pay it whether or not you live there during the summer.

For what it’s worth, my daughter was in Towers and LOVED it. It’s very conveniently located, and has a lot of good amenities. Most Towers units are 4/2, meaning 4 private bedrooms sharing two bathrooms. Also Towers apartments have a living room and full kitchen with full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, range, etc. No laundry in the apartment, but every floor has a laundry room.

For dorm availability, for Towers and Northview if they have open spots you get in. For all other dorms, you are assigned a selection date depending on the date you filed a dorm application and paid your deposit. The Housing Office staff is also VERY helpful if you have any questions.

On the meal plan, I only know a few people who have used it – but they HATED it. I also asked my daughter and she said: NO!!

On roommates, there is a “Roommate selection tool” on the Housing webpage, and it’s really good. There’s a questionnaire where you list likes/dislikes/interests, etc and then you can contact people with similar interests.

You must have applied for housing, and been accepted, to use it (I think.)

My daughter used it, came up with three great roommates, and had a great first year. Two of them are her roommates this year, and the third is still a good friend.

4.0 core unweighted, 4.6 weighted, 1080 sat though which is why application was for summer.

My freshman D also had great luck with the housing tool to select 3 great roommates who she will be living with sophomore year as well.

I’ve said it a dozen times on this forum – Summer enrollment is the best kept secret at UCF.

All it really means is that you have to take ONE online class during Summer B. You take something easy, check Rate My Professor before enrolling (ALWAYS!), and you’ve got a head start.

The exception to that is the Summer ACCESS program, which does require in-person attendance for Summer B.

If you’re accepted for Summer, you’re also accepted for the Fall – contingent upon meeting the summer requirement.

Has anyone gotten a decision since May 1? UCF said all waitlisted applicants would hear back by May 31st, but I didn’t know if that was on a rolling basis or on a single day.

I don’t know whether anyone has heard anything recently, but as far as I know, UCF has never given acceptances on a single day. They have always used rolling acceptances in the 3 years we’ve been involved.

They may very well send out an email to waitlisted students who didn’t make it in on or around May 31. If so, I would expect that email to detail options.

UCF has a high rate of retention after first year, but it is also very possible to transfer in as a sophomore. Some other Florida universities require a student to complete two years before transferring, but not UCF.

You might also call Undergraduate Admissions. Don’t give them an “I need an answer right now” ultimatum. Just tell them your student REALLY wants UCF and ask what the process is. They are very helpful and will give you whatever information they can.

It would be better to call them THIS week. Next week is the start of Summer term, and they will be very busy with all sorts of last-minute demands at the beginning of the term.
