University of Chicago Fall 2011 Transfer

Hahah I guess we can agree to disagree! UChicago is very good for math majors, you made the right choice :D

My interview somehow lasted three hours! While I think I’m a perfect fit for Chicago and the economics department there, I’m a little worried about my test scores. I’m a non-traditional student… I had to take several years off to take care of my family and then more time for cancer treatment… Long story. Anyway, my SAT scores are five years old and certainly not the best I could do.

Does anyone else’s status check page now show no list of materials received?

Really jealous of your interviews… my phone interview lasted about 20 minutes and I was too nervous. My interviewer was kind of snobby and I felt he was judging me… eh. At least it’s not a huge part of the application =/

@digit6 what do you mean? It should have one check with “Application complete” or something to that extent, which indicates all materials received.

Mine just says:

Date Details
02.xx.2011 Received: Application

No check mark though?

Sorry, the checks were for financial aid! (Excuse the hidden pun)

Hopefully Chicago will come out this week?

I heard the date is May 6th! Has anyone heard at all from UChicago? Asking for anything missing, materials, notifications? I heard that if you’re asks lets say for a missing financial aid document close to the date of notificatio(may 6th), you were most likely accepted…

Cordova, where’d you hear that? That was the date last year, but it was also the first Wednesday of May. I’m hoping it’ll be the fourth.

omg… why they never give a precise date? I’m literally freaking out right now. This is the one single school I really want to go!

I never received an e-mail requesting an interview, does that mean they weren’t interested enough in me to waste their time on one? – aka I’m rejected?

Well, for me there was a place where I could request an interview. It was on the page that showed your application status. There should have been a “Would you like an interview?” option.

I don’t think you’d be rejected if you didn’t get an interview. There are so many other things that weigh into the process that it’s nothing I’d lose sleep over. Think positive thoughts and focus on the work you have at hand. That’s probably a better investment of your time and energy. ;)

May 3… optimally, it’ll come out tomorrow

Could this mean anything? I asked if they had all parts of my financial aid documents and they e-mailed me back this:

Dear cordova1992,

Thank you for your message! According to our records, we have received all parts of
your application as well as your financial aid forms, and your file is complete. You
should expect to hear from us with your admissions decision within the next few
weeks.

We hope this helps!

Best regards,

The next few weeks??? We all suspect it’s tomorrow…does that mean I was rejected? I hope not…

I wouldn’t sweat it cordova. The way I think these things go, is that the date they post online is the absolute latest date applicants will be notified. All interactions they have with us are based off that date for the sake of consistency.

What I mean to say is, I really have no idea. That’s a complete shot in the dark so I don’t know how much it’ll help your uneasiness. As you’re probably a pretty bright student to apply to UChicago, it’s probably a better investment of your time, thoughts, and efforts, to focus on finishing the semester well. You’ve got this man, just keep up the good work. :)

I’m calling May 5th for decisions to be sent out.

Results were sent out the first Thursday of May for the last two years.

^^ sent out by email? or letter?

I’m pretty sure it was through the application status link they sent us when we applied

Anyone knows for sure it’s coming out tomorrow? The anxiety is burning me!
