UD gave my daughter a lot! I’m hoping XU follows suit to at least get down to UC’s regular price.
I spoke to the scholarships office this morning. They told me originally they were planning on having decisions on scholarships by mid-Feb. Obviously that didnt work out. He said to expect another 1-2 weeks. Notifications will come by email.
Urg! We’re registered for another visit on March 19th and the Bearcat Brunch on April 7th. Like I said before UD gave my daughter a lot, I realize they’re a private school and obviously have less applicants, but she received that quite some time ago. My daughter has it narrowed down to the city of Cincinnati with XU and UC battling it out just like on the court…we’ll see who wins.
@Honorsmom I feel your pain. As of today, every other school my D applied to gave her more than what she has currently from UC. We’re OOS (Texas) so she received the National Outreach award so far. Right now, UC is the highest cost of the schools she’s considering.
Hey everyone! I’m new to this thread lol
I have decided to attend UC despite not getting my financial aid package…i hope I get it soon haha
We received a response from financial aid, they’re waiting on the 2018-2019 pell grant chart to be released by the US Department of Education.
While the Financial Aid packages are not complete, Cincinnatus scholarships have been made visible to many people upon logging into Catalyst and going to My Finances. Officially received the Cincinnatus Excellence Scholarship today. EDIT: I logged in again and it looks like this has been taken down, it says no financial aid awards are available again.
@CompEngKid hopefully a promising sign you will be officially notified soon. Did you receive an email prompt to check the portal?
@Banker1 No official notification yet no
Anyone else debating on whether or not to accept admission to get housing priority or waiting to see scholarship info?
If you consider UC to be one of your top choices, the way I handled the housing was to consider it a sunk cost, and apply as soon as possible. If you later decide on another school, well, this fee should be considered minimal. Having said that, I realize that it’s not minimal to everyone, but my thoughts were that my daughter was likely to get some Cincinnatus help, so, in her case, she accepted and paid in order to give her the best chance to get where she wanted to be housing-wise. Ultimately the Cincinnatus came through, and she decided UC was the best fit for her. She’s on tract to graduate with a degree in Interior Design in May of 2019.
Son just received financial award of $1500 per year.
UC is cheapest option even with that small award, he still has his eyes on the most expensive option IU.
@CWAE182025 Saw your post and went online. S received $2000/yr Cincinnatus. Although I have read they give small merit awards and spread across many, the amount is still surprising after going down for honors interviews, etc. Based on his stats alone , without going down for the interview day, he probably would have received that merit amount. We are from OH and I know Cincinnati is known more for their engineering and design programs, etc. (not business) but, when the cost is about the same as Miami or OSU, unfortunately, I’m going to push for the other two based on their business reputations. I see IU is still in the running for you, my S will visit in a couple weeks. Also, he just visited Penn State (UP campus, Smeal) on Monday and, of course, loved it.
@CWAE182025 and @breakfastclub1 Have your kids heard from Business School yet about honors? I am wondering if these small awards mean anything for honors placement in the B School, or is it a totally separate thing? My son also got $2000 / year. I am hoping that doesn’t mean he is out of the running for LHP or Kolozdik, but I am afraid that is exactly what it means.
@CWAE182025 thanks for the notice. I checked online and my D received the $2000/yr Cincinnatus as well. It’s still the most expensive of her narrowed down list of schools but DAAP is her top choice so i went ahead and confirmed admission. Good luck everyone!
@gclsports We did not hear about honors business, yet. Based on all of our CC correspondence, I believe my S will only be receiving Circle of Excellence program which means this is it for the merit. For anyone else eligible for the upper two honors programs, I think you can get money from the honors program AND Cincinnatus, too. I am only saying this by piecing everything together so I don’t know anymore than anyone else…
For those checking their portals and seeing the merit awards - was there also an email notification?
@Banker1 No notification. Just checked based on people posting.
No email notification here either
