University of Cincinnati Class of 2022 Decision Thread

@BreakfastClub1 @gclsports He did not receive email notification; just happened to check this morning. He has not heard anything re: Honors
I am assuming all the same things…probable COE only and looks like no Darwin Turner scholarship.

@CWAE182025 Did you do the Turner Scholarship, too?! My S was invited to apply for the Turner Scholarship and has not heard anything either.

@BreakfastClub1 Yes! My son was also asked but we did not hear anything. I assumed it would be listed when aid awards come out.
I wonder how many were asked?

My daughter received Cincinnatus as well… I called the school today re: Turner Scholars. According to the office handling that process, the recipients of that award will be notified separately in the next two weeks.

@KristinaO Thank you for the information. @CWAE182025 There are four applicants that are on CC for Turner but not a specific discussion on it. I don’t know how many were asked to apply nor how many receive the scholarship. Everyone keep us posted on your outcome of the scholarship.

Got an email confirming my financial aid package is complete. Includes Cincinnatus Excellence Scholarship, Unsubsidized Loans, and Parent PLUS Loans

Got ours this afternoon as well!

@KristinaO @BreakfastClub1 Thanks for the update. I certainly will post outcome over the next couple of weeks.

Just got an email that my D was awarded the Cincinnatus scholarship to go along with the national outreach. I hope it’s substantial.

@Banker1 it should be available to see the $ amount in her Catalyst portal

@IDtoTX D just figured out how to log on to her portal. She got $2500/yr Cincinnatus to go along with her $6k/yr national outreach. Not bad. It’s now slightly cheaper than XU.

Wow- UC really doesn’t give out much money. My daughter got a whole 3K Cincinnatus. 33 ACT, 4.5 gpa /4.0 unweighted. That is almost an insult compared to other offers she got.

@Banker1 check your XU portal, ours was put in yesterday. XU is now double UC on our end of the spectrum…D is still considering XU as it was a 70/30 split before where it is now a 50/50 split. I don’t want her to go into debt for the same degree she can get across town for 1/2 the price, I know experiences will be different but she’s going into a career that pays virtually nothing so large debt with a small salary isn’t a good formula for a successful life…I am 40 and just paid off my college debt 5 years ago. I don’t want her to have to go through that.

The offer from Xavier was underwhelming here as well - twice as much out of pocket.

It’s moot since she is going to UC, but still …

Son was notified of a University Award yesterday. Received an email to log in to Catalyst to view Financial Aid. Rec’d $3500. 33 ACT, 4.2w GPA

Anyone know how to get UC id i cant login in to catalyst.

@Taholt When you got your “Welcome to UC” email it should have given you instructions to set up Catalyst. You are already assigned an ID number by the university, you just need to retrieve it.

You can also call the tech desk - they were surprisingly helpful when my daughter ran into a glitch setting things up. I would call, not email. Be ready to provide your SSN in case they need it to find you.

As an aside, I am not the only parent I’ve spoken to who thinks UC makes a lot of things harder than they need to be. 8-|

Purdue makes it much harder. UC seems easy by comparison.

So, has all of the scholarship info been posted?

UC is notorious with being able to give little money. We had the same scenario two years ago with my older son. He ended up at Miami because they were able to give a bit more. It makes me wonder if most of the state schools are just fairly strapped with being able to give much merit money at the present time. My S Class of 2022 received the $2000 Cincinnatus scholarship - 4.0 GPA/32 ACT. He did much better at several of the Ohio and Indiana privates.
