University of Delaware 2018 Merit Scholarships

Has anyone yet seen a merit scholarship award posted to their portal for 2018 Fall admission?

@MBCollegeDad Nothing on Daughter’s portal about her merit award. Just a letter via snail mail.

Thanks. Admission to Honors Program received snail mail but nothing about scholarship yet. Also nothing yet on portal. What award did you receive snail mail?

Admitted 11/3 about 3 weeks later snail mail with Trustee$15,000. From PA in case you couldn’t tell from my screen name

Received acceptance and they said we would revive merit 3-4 weeks later. We have heard people who got their merit award with acceptance. To be concerned or not be concerned I am unsure

@Jan18 If your student fits the general criteria list on the Financing your Degree page on the Website you are going to get the merit money. Plug in stats in the NPC and the merit money will show up in that calculator.

Thanks I will check that out

Still patiently waiting for official snail mail and merit letter (daughter accepted early november). I do think she is the exception rather than the rule as many others heard much more quickly. She was accepted into Honors and also applied to World Scholars so that could be a bit of the hold up. She falls in the category for Trustees Scholarship based on stats but can’t confirm award amount yet. She finally contacted her admissions rep this past weekend and was told she should be receiving something in the next few weeks. Good luck!

Received presidential at 12/k yr today!

Anyone hear of students recieving additional funding ever come May? or is U Del just too popular for that?

My D18 received snail mail merit award Trustees $15,000 last weekend. She had applied and was accepted to Honors back in November. Good luck everyone! Not sure about when they release Distinguished Scholars weekend invitations, it’s highly competitive and usually very tippy top scores get invited.

My son applied to UD last year for Athletic Training. It was a competitive major and decisions kept getting delayed, and delayed. Plus UDel had trouble matching up ACT scores (to the tune of almost 3 month delay) Although myson ultimately declined the offer of admission, I wanted to share our experience with Merit Aid because it may help someone. My son received a notice of merit aid when he received his acceptance. I can’t recall the exact amount. Several weeks later I found out that he had received an additional amount of merit aid. I found it by accident on line. We never received a notice from the school. The total aid package was not the decision point. But if it had been, it would have been really upsetting. My point is that I would take the time out to follow up with the university before you decline/accept if your decision is based on $$. The additional money was in the $7k range. Not huge, but not insignificant either.

@VAMom23 Thanks! This is helpful and hopeful!

@burghdad @MBcollegedad @AmyBeth68 Congrats! Can you share general stats? Trying to project here; acceptance into honors last night OOS. Expecting at least $13,000 hopefully ACT 32

@Brucella018 she is #5 in her class, wtd gpa 4.55, uw gpa 4.0. She will graduate with 9AP, 1 DE and rest honors. Varsity captain, musician, ACT 34, some other leadership etc. She’s accepted honors as Three Languages and International Relations major.

@AmyBeth68 Thanks! Similar stats for sure with all the stuff amazing kids do, just wish I had had her retake the ACT, but she was happy with her 32.

@Brucella018 A 32 is a very strong ACT and she should be up for some competitive merit. If you go to Udel’s website there is a net price calculator that allows you to input your daughter’s stats and it will give you a range of merit, it was very accurate for my daughter. That might help ease your worries but I do think a 32 puts her in the higher category if I remember correctly. Best of luck!!!

@AmyBeth68 Yup we did that, It put her at $13,000, which is great, but of course hoping for more. Thanks so much!

@Brucella018 my daughter’s NPC said $13K as well and it was slightly more at $15K so I’m hoping your dauhter gets the same!!!

@AmyBeth68 Thanks-good admission and merit vibes to all!!!
