University of Florida Fall 2016 Transfers

@Shaifu

Yeah, you’ll get an email from Orientation Services with three attachments, I believe. It will be a printable parking decal, pdf version of the transfer checklist, and a pdf detailing what orientation will be like and what you need to bring with you. They usually send one email a few days after you pay and one before the actual date.

lol. The orientation was open for July 18 when I went to sleep last night. i wake up and now the only one available is Aug 18. Cool.

@Vino904

Yeah keep checking, it’ll probably reappear soon.

I already applied for the August 18 one

@IAmSparkz Any idea how to get a decal for the fall semester online and how to pay for it?

@Shaifu
All charges related to UF will always be charged to your student account. The summary can be accessed under your “My Campus Finances” tab on www.my.ufl.edu.

The decals can be bought here:
https://www.bsd.ufl.edu/decal/Order/start.aspx

@Test90 I just went on that website and tried ordering one and it says, "
We are not able to resolve your eligibility for a UF Staff or Student parking decal at this time. Please send an email to to ParkingDecalOrder@bsd.ufl.edu to inquire. Include your UFID in the e-mail. We apologize for this inconvenience. " Any idea what to do?

@Shaifu Write that email address or call them :slight_smile: If there is an issue with you account, they will be the only people that could help you.

@Test90 Is it because I still haven’t went to orientation and haven’t registered for classes? Also, do you have the contact number? Thanks.

Hey guys, is it true that when you apply they don’t ask about an essay ?

@TheDefeater

Transfer applications have two essay requirements. One prompt is about the major you chose, and the other is about participation in extra-curriculars pertaining to that major.

Hi there

First of all, let me congratulate you on your acceptance to UF. I hope you have some knowledge about the changing of degrees at the school of engineering. I was accepted to civil engineering, but I have decided to change my major to biomedical engineering. Do you know if to change degrees at the same school, in this case the school of engineering, is possible? Thanks.

So, what courses contribute to the overall GPA? For example, I took college algebra and pre-calc/Trig, but my major is Mechanical Engineering. Do these courses still count toward my overall GPA when I transfer? Or will it just be the eight core classes in addition to English/history/ethics exc?

Work as hard as you can on the eight core classes. A 4.0 must be your goal on those 8 courses,also try to take more than 12 credits each semester because I think UF looks at it as a positive point. Lastly, make it to the Dean’s list if possible, work as a tutor at your college even for free.

@Bakko34

You’ll have to call the admissions department for the college of Engineering and ask them about switching majors. I’ve heard that it can’t be done and I’ve also heard that it can be done if space is available and you’re considered a competitive candidate for the program.

@RTRC85

All work done in your college count towards your Overall GPA. The transfer prerequisites (Calc, Chem, Phys, and Labs) count towards your Pre-Prof. GPA.

Just a heads up, even though the website says you need a 3.5 GPA to be competitive, we were told that the cut-off GPA was 3.8 this year due to the large number of applicants for Mechanical/Aerospace. That goes for Overall and Pre-Prof.

@IAmSparkz How does that work though about the cut-off GPA for cc students? Isn’t it a Florida law to that all students from a community college have to be accepted if class requirements/minimum gpa are met?

@TheDefeater

I’m going to copy/paste an answer I gave previously

The State of Florida has a law (called the 2+2 articulation agreement) that allows a student with an A.A. degree from a Florida College, the chance for admission into AT LEAST ONE of the state universities.

This law DOES NOT apply to students who are pursing a degree in a limited access program, as the program has additional sets of requirements that must be met, as well as space limitations.

This pdf (starting from page 14) sums it up quite nicely: http://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/5421/urlt/statewide-postsecondary-articulation-manual.pdf

The departments in the college of Engineering are an example. Not only do you have to be competitive within the pool of applicants but there must be space within the program. They can add extra requirements to trim the pool down. You have to confirm whether or not your major is within a ‘limited access’ program

Hello guys,

I am new to CC. I am applying to UF for Spring 2017. I wrote my statements but one of them is over 200 words (247 word) and UF had word limit of 200 words. I can’t delete any info because all of it is important. Any suggestion?
Thanks!

@Gator_01

The same thing happened to me. The website says 200 words but it’s actually 1000 characters which totaled to about 160 words for me. The only advice I can give is to shorten it. Maybe work on building up main points and remove smaller details.

Good luck.

Thanks @IAmSparkz
