University of Florida Fall 2016 Transfers

@IAmSparkz Thank you!! Hope you get your acceptance soon!!!

@SlightlyGeneric Are you applying for on campus housing?

@PaloC3 I am, yes. Do you think I’ll be able to secure a spot?

@SlightlyGeneric If you submitted your housing app around the same time as your admissions app there is no reason you shouldn’t have a spot, frankly im not sure, im actually doing off campus housing so I haven’t looked at the deadlines for on campus…transfer students don’t HAVE to live on campus their first semester right? I remember a UF advisor telling me I didn’t have to…

@bc2323 In the same boat as you, they said earliest I’d know is April 30th. Which specialization did you choose and whats your gpa etc?
Currently at FGCU as an exercise science major, came in with 28 credits.
First term had a 3.93 GPA (A- in stats.)
Not sure if only having one semester at college with a good GPA is good enough for them to consider me acceptable. I’ll have my AA after this summer term at FGCU.

Just got in to the journalism school! Conditions are I complete 2 prerequisites and get my AA before I attend UF. Ahhhh this is so crazy! I can’t believe it. Good luck to all of you! Now to deal with housing

@SlightlyGeneric You will need to apply for on campus housing and pay the $225 advance payment (for Fall) by May 1’st (or was that April 1’st?). The date you paid the $25 housing fee determines your housing priority. As a “freshman”, you shouldn’t have any issues getting on-campus housing. You should have received info on how to sign up for housing.

UF doesn’t require any students (Freshman or Transfers) to live on campus. Housing is limited, and freshman have a priority over other students.

@bdawg526342 I’m going into sports management and my gpa is a 3.0 cause I had a rough first semester. But hopefully my extra curriculars will push my over that hump

Accepted into the College of Education, ProTeach!
Current School: Santa Fe
GPA: 3.2
Major: Elementary Education

Have anyone who applied from the engineering school got accepted yet??

@JerlyBest
I applied last year to the College of Engineering and got my acceptance mid March (18th I believe), but it was said acceptances would mainly go out in April. So don’t worry too much, decisions should come out within the month if last year was an indicator (Though, some decisions were late too if I remember correctly)

@Test90
Thx. I feel way better right now knowing that I can have my decision in two weeks.

Nearly forgot to post this. For everyone that got accepted, I found a thread a while back that details what Transfer Preview is like and gives really good advice and helpful information. It’s from 2014 (I doubt there’s any difference) but if anyone could add to or clarify, that would be appreciated. Shoutout to @CollagenDavoli

@Test90
Thanks for posting. If you don’t mind me asking, how early did you put in your application, and how quickly did your status change each step of the way?

Current Institution Miami Dade College
Current GPA 3.85
Pre-Prof GPA
College/Major College Of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Psychology
SAT 2000
Duel Enrollment. Expected to complete AA April/16

My son just found out this afternoon that he got accepted to UF Wow!! What joy!! UF was his 1st and pretty much his only choice. It was somewhat discouraging when he found out he did not get accepted as a Freshman. Fortunately because he was a dual enrollment student expecting to get his AA during his senior year he had a opportunity to apply as a transfer. Good Luck to all of you who are still waiting and remember to keep checking your status.

@IAmSparkz Sorry, didn’t notice your question… I put my application in very early, I believe begin of November. I think my status changed to sent to college mid-to late December, but Im not 100% sure. Hope this helps :slight_smile:

Current Institution: Santa Fe College (Went to Palm Beach State College my freshmen year)
Current GPA: 3.72
College/Major: College of Public Health and Health Professions// Communication Sciences and Disorders
I have my last 2 pre-reqs in progress right now but I will be finished in April, which is when I graduate with my AA.
Also, I sent in my application January 2nd and the deadline for my major was Jan 15th.

Online for my major it says they typically send out admission decisions March 15th but transfer students may take longer. I called someone from the college yesterday and all she really told me was that they were sending decisions out the 15th and 16th of this month and I should know by Friday. Still don’t know if I got accepted yet :(( Trying to be patient as it is almost Friday but I am worried I still will not know if I got in by then.

Hey everyone :slight_smile:

I applied to UF for the College of Journalism and Communications as a Public Relations major back in November. My transcripts were received January 28th and there was a mix up with my university transcript that just got sorted out at the end of February.

Current university: Florida Atlantic
GPA: 3.2 and in the process of getting AA degree
Major: Public Relations

Does anyone know how competitive the PR major is and if I have a chance?

Hey everyone! I made my original post a few days ago about how I should be finding out soon if I got in and guess what?! I WAS ACCEPTED TO THE COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS!!! I am so thrilled and it is still very unreal but I am so excited! Good luck everyone!!!

Hey @heather2586 I’m applying to PHHP also. May I know how you find out your admission first? through the uf website or the email? Thanks

Hey guys,
I applied at 10pm on March 1st (CALS deadline) but when I login to my gatorlink to check my app status it says my application was received March 2nd. Do you think this will drastically affect my admission decision? Also, has anyone else who applied to the CALS program received anything regarding an admission decision?

Are there a lot of scholarships that we can apply for? I am an engineering student
