hey guys, i just wanted to know if i had a chance of being accepted into umd as a sophomore transfer for the fall semester of 2015. i applied regular decision cause it was really last minute, and my parents forced me to apply. i really don’t think i will get in anyways.

i saw on the umd website that the incoming transfer class for fall 2014 avg gpa was a 3.4something and for the spring it was a 3.2something.

credentials:
2.94 freshman year of college gpa
no extracurriculars

as you can see my gpa is pretty below average and i don’t have any activities from this year, so do i even have a chance? please be honest, but not harsh!!

Where have you been studying, and why do your parents want you to transfer to UMD?

If you are in-state for Maryland, you probably would be best off spending next year at one of the MD community colleges that you can commute and where you can participate in one of the programs that guarantee transfer into UMD. If you have a 2.94, it shouldn’t take much work to pull your GPA up to the range that UMD requires for the guaranteed transfers from the MD community colleges.

I’ve been at Mount St Mary’s University, and my parents just want me to transfer because its cheaper since I’m in state .
