@Mfrias They didnt take you in this time around because they’re only accepting overly qualified applicants first because many of them possibly use UM as a back up. They know they’ll get you in RD so they’re saving their “normally” qualified acceptances for RD and overly qualified for EA. It’s a little difficult to explain over the computer, but hopefully this helps! 
This is also why I’m not too upset about being deferred. There’s something they see in us that they want to keep around, thus there’s a reason they did not straight up reject us.

@Mfrias I will honestly be surprised if they don’t take you in RD with your stats, but sometimes it happens. My brother (4.8 GPA, 2200 on SAT) got denied from USC…So sometimes well qualified don’t even get in. But the fact that you’re deferred is fine because like I said, they see something intriguing in you already!!!
sorry if this question has been asked already, but does anyone know how long after deferrals were released last year it took for the other decisions to go out? Hours or days?
