someone call
U Miami has never released on a Saturday. It will either be today, tomorrow, or sometime next week.
@abcollege2022 I think you are either admitted to the school you applied to or rejected, no way to get into miami and not the specific school you applied for. Not 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure
Is there any indication that today is the day? A lot of people seem to think it is, but I’m confused as to why.
IF they come out today what time are we thinking?
No idea. Anyone want to check last year’s thread?
If they follow last year’s schedule, decisions will be on Thursday the 25th.
decisions started coming out around 5pm last year on january 26
@abcollege2022 it’s direct admit to all their programs so you wouldn’t be accepted to the university but not the specific school
I called and they said they didn’t have a date, they would just come out before February 1
They won’t tell you the date. Northeastern did the same thing today, but they’re releasing decisions.
Why all the secrecy? Seems like it can’t hurt them at all to say the date
Last year, on the morning of the 26th, they tweeted a response that decisions would be by the end of the month. They released them a few hours later. I believe it will be the last Thursday of the month again: the 25th.
i heard the 29th it comes out
ugh got hopes up for today!
@kd6410 two reasons for the secrecy: first, colleges have so many applications to review and decide upon that they don’t want to be held to (and can’t commit) to a certain date, because “what if” they can’t get done in time—they’d have a public relations mess on hand. second, the secrecy creates a certain “buzz”, with all the interested applicants speculating and talking up amongst themselves as to when they think the decisions will be released. So it keeps the University’s name front and center for a while and makes it a more personal invested bonding process for the applicants waiting for decisions. In contrast, if everybody knew the exact date and time, they not many would be on these boards communicating with each other and speculating ad nauseam about the exact date and time of anticipated release.
Let’s do a couple hundred more posts about how we really hope they release the decisions today
@trackmbe3 If anyone else is like me then this kind of lack of communication is having the opposite effect of creating buzz - it’s making me not want to attend. On your first point, hundreds of other universities can pick a date and stick with it. I do think you’re right but if they can’t even do this, what would make me think their administration as a whole is competent?
I actually agree with @Kd6410 … There has been numerous times when I and other students have called the school only to get redirected and left with no answers. The school is amazing but when it comes to connecting with prospective students, they need improvement. There’s many other schools that are dying for students to reach out to them. We’ll continue to play the waiting game I guess.
The school states end of January. The only thing unreliable here are the guesses people keep making based on previous years, hunches, and “i heard” second-hand information.
If Jan 31 passes and they haven’t been released, then the admissions dept can be called unreliable.
