University of Miami Spring Transfer 2018

When did you apply ? I applied in September and just found out Friday !

I applied end of August, but completed application mid of October.

That’s weird !!! Mine was considered complete October 6! What were your stats?

What year are you? I applied in September and I’m finishing my first semester as a freshmen. They said they wait for your final semester grades before making decisions for freshmen.

Can some of you post your stats? I’m just curious to see if I’ll have a chance. I was waitlisted at UM my senior year when I first applied so I wonder if that will help me now

When I applied my senior year I was denied (lol)
Now I am a sophomore I have 32 credit + 14 (I am currently taking). But they only saw the 32. My gpa was a 3.4 I had quite a few A’s, 2 Bs and 1 C. I had a really good essay and a great recommendation.

I was accepted I forgot to say that lol

Congrats to everyone who got in! I was a transfer (I’m a junior) for the fall semester, so if anyone has any questions about transferring, majors, campus life, where to live, where to eat on or off campus, etc., post here or message me. I’d love to help out, I was definitely in all of your shoes just a few months ago. Congrats and welcome to the U!

Hey !!! So I’m local to the school but I’m hoping to live on campus if they have anything available! Is the dining hall bad?? I’ve heard it’s terrible.

I live off campus so I have only been to the dining hall once or twice. Compared to what I was used to at my old university, the food is a lot better, and you can always find something to eat. However, that doesn’t mean it is great. Some think the dining hall is delicious, some think it’s awful, but honestly, whichever way you think of it, you will get used to it/tired of it. The options on campus outside the dining hall are really good though, so if you don’t want to eat in the dining hall too often, you can get a meal plan with more dining dollars (check the dining website!). There are 2 Starbucks on campus, one by the main library and one by the lake in the student center. In the student center, there’s also a Jamba Juice, some place called Fresh Fusion (never been tbh), and The Rat which is like an on-campus pub with bar food and beers. In the food court literally in the next building over, there’s Tossed (salads and wraps), Panda Express, Subway, Pollo Tropical (Cuban), Sushi Maki, a burger place, and a cafe with pastries and coffee and I think they have sandwiches, along with a convenience store w/ a kosher deli. There’s Lime (Mexican/Southwestern) in the UC by the bookstore. There is also an Einstein’s in the Law School and empanada carts in the business school and the School of Com. There are a few more places, you can check the dining website. Also, there are plenty of places off campus to go to within walking distance, and if you have a car then you have even more options. And definitely apply for on campus housing. I know a few people who moved out because they were exchange students or they are studying abroad.

Thank you so much !!! Yeah I applied I’m just waiting to hear back. They said January 2nd !! I went on campus today to meet with an advisor. I’m so excited !!

Congratulations to all u guys getting accepted maybe you guys can help me. out. I am currently at Iowa state university majoring in exercise science. my first semester I got a 3.59 gpa with 15 credits. I am currently enrolled in 19. now.
