Did everyone last year get notified on the same day?
@Momof3frommich So under "
Other Required Application Materials" there is nothing like grades before feb required???
Any international students know decisions yet?
Michigan does not defer applicants because they are high stats applicants. That’s a myth. Michigan is mega selective. As selective as many other top 20 universities in the country. It is likely that Michigan received 35,000 EA applications this year, the majority of which are high stat applicants. Of those, 7,000 will be admitted. The math is fairly clear. There are going to be more high stat applicants that are deferred than admitted. But if you look at those who have been accepted on this thread, they are all high-stats applicants.
@misskiesha420 I applied on October 30th!! Haven’t heard back but mid year grade request is sitting there. Dying of anxiety!!!
Every single person at my school has heard back except me. 2 people have gotten in so far. Did any one who’s sibling currently goes there or has gone there not get in?
Wait are there different types of deferrals?
im an international student and everyone in my school heard back except me. I applied on the 30th as well and some of them even applied on the 31st or few minutes before the deadline. So no idea if they are following any kind of order.
@dannyphantom1 where did you see that there were different kinds of deferrals?

I think the big pitfall for high-stats applicants who are also very qualified otherwise is that they fail to show how they fit into Michigan in their essays.
I heard of a case where someone got into UPenn’s Wharton Huntsman program, but was deferred in Michigan. UPenn Wharton is objectively more selective than Michigan, and the Huntsman Program even more so. This person just did not put the same effort in their Michigan application as they did in their Penn Wharton application. It is getting more competitive, and treating Michigan as a “back-up” to your Ivy applications is not going to do you much good.
@Momof3frommich idk it says at the start of the forum so Im trusting it and i think i read about it elsewhere and cant remember now
@collegeclass22 yes everyone else is international too
S still hasn’t heard. Application was in October 20
Is a legacy of you have a sibling who attends/attended or a donor? If so, does I.T help to have one of those?
@calabasasxoxo yeah a legacy is if your relative went to the same place and i think it does help but maybe not to a large extent because if you see some posts here a lot of legacies were deferred.
