University of Michigan Class of 2015 Decision Release Date

^People actually call the admissions office to talk about their decision? What could they possibly talk about?

don’t know how true this is but my college counselor said that decisions might take a little while to be processed and may even go past the 23rd deadline. She said they got 22,000 early action applications which caused this.

i dont think michigan can do that

so…the 23rd is the actual date i guess. i haven’t got a decision so i think the dec. 17th rumor is just that, a rumour. i think it’ll be the 23rd but we can only wait.

Does anyone else’s WA say that they’ve been notified about 7th semester grades?

Mine does, and I haven’t been sent any typer of email or any sort of notification. I don’t know if it’s an acceptance and they want my grades to confirm like most colleges do, or if it’s a deffer and they want them. Either way I haven’t been notified of anything and i’m just confused and frustrated.

@gunit5 Is that all decisions including OOS students (I live in Texas)? Do you know? Or will we get our decisions later? Does anybody know from their siblings’ experiences?

It is possible that your HS has been notified to send the 7th semester grades?

My WA does not show any type of request for my 7th semester grades… Good or bad?

hmm… there have been a few ppl on this board who have a req. for 7th sem grades on WA; wonder if it means anything substantial.

i still haven’t heard…i called the admissions office on wednesday and they said they aren’t sure if they are releasing decisions in waves or all on the 23rd, they said that the latest will be the 23rd though…has anyone heard yet?

well they will want to see your 7th semester grades wether you got accepted or deferred, so it means that at least you know you weren’t rejected.

It would seem likely for deferrals (“we need more information to help make our decision”), etc.

It seems more suited for deferrals to me. If you’re accepted, would they really need mid-year grades? Would they not just wait for the final transcript at the end of the year?

My daughter did ED at Northwestern, there release date was Dec 15 and we found out last night. Unfortunately it was a no, but hopefully she will be joining you at U of M! We heard a rumor from a counselor that the decisions would be released at 6:00pm on the 10th and sure enough they were, so I’m guessing the 17th rumor could be a good one. Good luck to you all.

Well, my counselor said she’d heard of numerous colleges who had required the 7th semester grades and final transcript for admission. So, I cant be sure whether it’s a defferal or an admit, but my counselor said she hadn’t been notified about the grades.

MichMom and Americanslang-I agree. Why would they request 7th semester grades if you were already accepted? It would just be an unneeded hassle as they would already be getting all of the grades at the end of the year. I think it’s likely that they are requesting them from applicants whom they are unsure about. The grades would tip them either way.

Jorabamama-I’m sorry to hear that she was rejected from Northwestern. I considered applying there myself but my high school simply isn’t competitive enough.

all schools request 7th and 8th semester grades. if your grades slip, in some instances, your admission can be revoked. just FYI.

@goblue418

thats what i thought, thank you.

I agree that all schools request 7th and 8th semester grades.

But in all the cases I’m closely familiar with (friends, brother, etc), once they were accepted, only the final transcript was asked for, which included both 7th and 8th semester grades of course.

Obviously Michigan could be different, maybe they do ask for 7th and 8th separately for admitted applicants. But I know 7th semester grades are always asked for if an applicant is deferred. We won’t know for sure until when actually notifications of admission vs. rejection vs. deferral are released.

Regardless, I wouldn’t fret if it says that on your WA - whether it’s a sign of admitted or deferred, at least you weren’t rejected!

Thanks livelifeoutloud. She’s pretty ok with it and just very hopeful to get into U of M! Her boyfriend has applied there as well. Are most of you from Michigan? We are from Zeeland, near Grand Rapids.
