University of Michigan Class of 2023 - Deferred Applicants

For those who have had their mid year grades received by UM, how long did it take? Also, will the “Transcript High School” date on the “View Credentials” update when they receive it? Thank you in advance for any help! Greatly appreciated.

The date on my Transcript HighSchool changed to the date they received the updated transcript from me. @letsgoblue1234

Just thought I would share the response I got to my LOCI. Just some background I’m OOS and I stated in my letter that if I was accepted, I would enroll.

Thank you for this email, please be assured that I will add it to your application materials and will also note your strong interest in the University of Michigan. The information will be considered as we make decisions for the few remaining spots we have available. Admission to the University of Michigan is very competitive and in the past several years due to the high volume of applicants & the strong yield rate among our admitted students, we have not had a great deal of space to offer admission to the deferred pool of applicants. I encourage all deferred students to keep the University of Michigan as an option, but also to also explore the other opportunities available to them. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.

@sphcstryy Very interesting. My OOS son was deferred EA for the school of engineering but was admitted on Saturday. He did not send a LOCI. I presume his midterm grades were sent to all schools but no change really. He had very strong stats (ACT 35, SAT 1540, SATII Math 800, unweighted 4.0).

I was surprised my response was slightly different. I did not hear back yet so I am a little worried

As noted elsewhere by @Knowsstuff , the stats of @UVAmom23 's S seems to fit into the high stat nature of the recent UMich 2/1 release, although not LSA, but CoE.

Any admitted students here got their financial aid info? Still nothing under my son’s portal.

Just a quick heads up for those deferred applicants that are waiting for their decisions (including me). Though the only waves that seemed to have appeared last year during February were at the beginning of the month and the end of the month (start of March) we should all still be checking our portals each Friday. I went further back and searched the University of Michigan class of 2021 deferred applicants forum (2 years ago) and saw that multiple people received decisions during Fridays in the middle of the month. There were people getting decisions at the end of the first week of February and the middle of February. It is worth noting, however, that these waves were smaller than the ones at the beginning of the month.

My point here is that we should still remain hopeful for a potential decision every Friday, for Michigan has released decisions at different dates each year. Who knows, maybe some of us may be lucky enough to hear back before February comes to a close.

However, please keep in mind that this is just speculation based off of data from two years ago, and in the end, Michigan may still decide to follow the pattern from last year, forcing us to wait till the end of February/start of March.

I agree and said so earlier, check EVERY Friday. And absolutely remain hopeful. 50% of the acceptances are RD.

However, in the case of the Class of 2021, there was not a release on Friday 2/3, the first Friday of the month. UMich “delayed” the first RD release to 2nd week of the month. And the releases were tiny, like just a few postings.

This page seems to be a mix of deferred and RD posts, and since deferred is essentially RD, it may help to know that if you look on the RD page, there are only a few post about acceptances. They only have 3 pages total. My point is that it looks like very few people received acceptances this wave, and maybe no denials. I think there are many more decisions to come. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Good luck everyone.

I believe you will have a fair chance. But your sat score is somewhat low tbh

I have seen it asked before with no replies. But has anyone been accepted (following EA deferral) into the school of Kinesiology?

@joelen09 Did you submit your mid year grades through the Common App? Regardless, how long did it take? Thank you for your response!

Does anyone know if anyone’s view decision tab has disappeared but was not accepted? Or has it followed suit (given that those have posted about their experience)?

@StevenW i applied ea and got deferred to kinesiology for sports managment and havent heard back again yet. Im in the alternative program at my school so I dont have a GPA but my act is a 32 and im really hoping i get in because its my top. Does anyone have any idea if/when kines students hear?

Hi my school is on trimesters and I have had 4 core classes out of 5 except this trimester. someone recently told me you must have 4 core classes is this true? I am very nervous because I don’t recall hearing about this.

I just read an article about Erica Sanders (managing admissions director) and here’s what she said: “Many decisions are sent out as the decisions are made, rather than in a batch on one day.” … hopefully we’ll all start hearing back soon

The date on my Transcript HighSchool changed to the date they received the updated

@letsgoblue1234 I had my college counselor send my grades. I know they were sent on the 20-25th and received on 31st.
