My son also applied EA to COE and got deferred. He just logged in and his says the exact same thing as yours if that’s helpful to know.
@shiftbro My daughter’s says the same. She was deferred in EA round.
@shiftbro A continuing student is already a student at the school. Continuing students get their FA notification later than incoming freshmen. An incoming freshman is not a continuing student.
Hi. My daughter got into Ross friday and also the BHP at UT Austin. Both top programs. Ross we know is great. Any insight into the UT program? They only take 100 kids into the BHP. We are OOS for both programs so cost is the same without any scholarships
Okay! Thanks for the responses everyone!
@illdad curious what state you are from? and any “hooks” - legacy, URM?
Also, would you mind putting your daughter’s stats
@illdad. Congratulations on two very fine programs. Since both programs are great I think it comes down to does your daughter want to be a Longhorn or a Wolverine?
Which campus appeals to her more? I didn’t add in the room /board but UT might be cheaper. Bhp claims 100% placement but I don’t think getting a job is that hard after graduating from Ross. Undergraduate business at Michigan is ranked #4 and UT ranked #6. Not much of a difference there. You could look up 5 year out wages but they are most likely similar.
So what other programs do the Universities have that are interesting to your daughters interests.? How restrictive is each program if she wants to study something else and/or something else within her chosen field?
I personally know Michigan is behind the student 100% in endevours they might want to do. But I am sure the same can be said about UT.
The Michigan alumni is one of the largest and its a real thing… But again I am sure UT alumni are good also.
Look at clubs at both schools. Some are tough getting into.
Is there merit or financial aid potential at one school over the other?
Food /dorms /culture of the school?
Michigan sports seems to be doing better!
I am just trying to be objective and not totally biased here. Your daughter has a very nice problem at the moment. Let’s us know how she decides and why.
It is illegal for public universities in the state of Michigan to consider race or ethnicity in admissions decisions. Therefore, URM is not a hook for UMich.
while it may be illegal, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen in admissions. URM plays a big part in college admissions regardless of what one says. Ill wait to hear what the above poster says as I asked the question to them. Thanks!
Is it too late to send a loci?
I wondered the same thing, @atsmmmbp–I was just about to tell my son to at least email his admissions counselor a quick note. I’m thinking it can’t hurt. (Maybe even better than right after the deferral, since the admissions counselor won’t be getting hundreds of them at once?)
Just a guess, of course.
Trust your gut. I personally think one send earlier is more effective but you don’t have much to lose either.
@atsmmmbp It’s not too late to send LOCI! Send one out of you’re still interested in the school.
are engineering decisions the same time as LSA?
how many waves will there be? and when does anyone think the next one will be?
i would like to know this too, if anyone knows
Is it not that the next wave is today?
:-h. Here’s a wave today… Sorry couldn’t resist.
LOL, I actually cracked up @Knowsstuff – but seriously tho …
For those who asked stats for my OOS daughter who was admitted to ROSS and BHP at UT Austin
4.55 WGPA
3.95 UW GPA
1450 SAT
Multiple EC’s - 4 year varsity tennis, VP DECA, etc
Excellent recs
Essay’s above average
Ran her own non for profit tennis organization for underprivileged kids
No “hooks.” We are from Illinois. Do not have any ties to Michigan. Never been to the University. Not from a underrepresented minority
