University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

@madmdtaxpayer Great! I heard nursing department doesn’t have enough fund for upcoming freshman. Not sure how many got merit based scholarship for nursing.

Decision tab just disappeared (I checked about one hour ago and it was still there, one hour later and it’s gone), I am in New Jersey.

D’s tab disappeared this evening as well.

Decision tab disappeared. Was deferred

Which option would you choose and why?

  1. UC Berkeley Haas Global Management Program (GMP). Also, got the Regents Scholarship.
  2. University of Michigan Ross Business School I was selected as a preferred admit.
  3. UCLA (Pre Business Economics)
  4. Emory University (Pre Business) with the hope of transferring to the Goizueta Business School

@Itiznotfare
First of all, congrats on some wonderful choices!
It seems you want to study and go into business, so I’d definitely go for Haas or Ross. Despite being public universities, they give an unparalleled experience and really care about their students.

How would I choose?

  1. Finance — if you’re in-state for California or Michigan, I’d choose Haas or Ross respectively, without giving it a second thought. Might be different if you’re insanely rich or poor (fin aid) though.
  2. Fit. For me, this would be a secondary factor to look at only if cost differences are negligible. But fit includes everything from location, weather, culture, whether you want to study business over 4 years (Ross) or just the last two (Haas), etc.

As a Michigander, I know that we’d love to have you, and if you decide to come, congrats!
Best of luck, and PM me with any questions.

Admitted student gc? Also any discounts on merch for admitted students?

still nothing for me

Not too sure how this compares to previous years, but today at campus day we were told that the acceptance rate for COE this year was 19%

Has anyone who applied to the Music Matters Big Thinkers Scholarship heard back yet? Or the four-year renewable scholarship?

I have made a decision to accept one of these offers. I would like to see if you would have made the same selection. All four options are amazing and I feel so fortunate. I would like to pursue a career in management consulting. Which option would you have chosen and why?

I want to thank the wonderful students who worked the Campus Day event on March 23. My daughter now leaning toward Michigan instead of Maryland because of the all the happy and friendly students we met at Campus Day and around campus. Every student we met on campus expressed how much they loved the place, not one derogatory comment. The campus has a special spirit that sells itself. And thank you to the University for the offer of the generous grant.

@madmdtaxpayer. So happy that you experienced the “Michigan” culture. So the kids that took you around and that go there are programmed like robots to be nice “until” all the touring groups leave, ?. How were the other families and kids that were thinking about going there with your daughter, her future classmates?

We actually stopped students walking around at Michigan and other schools and just asked them point blank “Why Michigan”. The kids were just confident in their answers and evidently loved the school. We kept hearing “if you don’t go here you will regret it” several times.

All the students we interacted with were very positive, from Campus Day staff, to waitresses in the restaurants. Like you said earlier, the place sells itself.

The other kids in the group, and the parents I spoke to, were also impressed with campus.

@Itiznotfare…what did you decide??

tried logging in at 4:30 ish AM EST and it says that there are maintenance issues now. Maybe a release today?

They do normal maintenence during the night.
