So my S high school wont be sending mid-year reports until after feb 17th. Sigh AND since and we’re on the east coast with schools having been closed all week due to the recent huge snowmaggedin, it’ll be probably later than that.
Looks like no decisions today. Hopefully next week!
If my mid-year report was downloaded earlier today (Jan. 30) by U of M, do I have a chance of getting a decision on the next predicted decision date (Feb. 5)?
How do I see if my mid-year report has been downloaded yet or not?
I sent an email of continued interest to my regional counselor a couple of days ago and did not receive an automated or personal response yet. I am 100% sure it is the correct email, yikes I’m worried.
@cam4298 go into the common app, click on your U of M file, click on the recommenders section and see if your counselor has submitted the “mid year report” and if U of M downloaded it.
I’m a lot late to be on this thread because of weirdness around my decision, which includes that I never even got an official deferral letter, only an unofficial one a week ago, but hi everyone.
I feel like an idiot now, they just sent me an acceptance email a half hour ago, just ignore me sorry! >.<
Will there only be acceptances on friday? Or will they also send out rejections?
@nodog28 they can be anything, but less rejections come in February.
Got this email from my regional admissions officer in response to my letter of interest. Is this the same email that everyone receives?
Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application and I will use this information to continue to advocate for your admission.
The University received a record breaking 30,000+ early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive and we were not able to admit all of the academically excellent students who applied. At the University of Michigan we use a holistic and comprehensive review process that looks beyond a student’s GPA and test score. We are also assessing their curriculum, extra-curricular involvement, leadership & awards, personal characteristics, and essays. Additionally, we gauge the level of interest the applicant demonstrates in the University, as well as their fit within our campus community.
Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine if we have space for you in the freshman class. Please submit your mid-year grades when they become available so they can be considered, but other than that there is nothing further we need from you at this time. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you in early April.
Again, admission to the University of Michigan is the most competitive it has ever been this year, so although you are still a very strong candidate for consideration, I would encourage you to keep the University of Michigan as an option, but also explore the other opportunities available to you.
@alphadog same one i got
@alphadog I’m not sure why many of the deferral letters says “in early April.” Usually they say by early April, because it means that they can send a decision before then. Hopefully you won’t have to wait that long!
Really hoping to hear back on Friday ugh.
@lalabeach22 Same, hahha

This was mine. It didn’t have the ‘advocate for you’ part sooo…

I had already submitted my midyear report and it was listed as downloaded on the common app.
@sodapop027 don’t worry - it’ll be added to your file even without a response.
