University of Michigan Deferral Thread EA 2020

@thequarterback what did you say to initiate the conversation with your regional counselor? I sent in my letter of continued interest, received a response, and thanked them in return. Should I send her an email asking if they received my mid year report?

When is the next wave of admissions coming out?

For those of us who don’t have anything on WA, is there a chance they might send out more decisions later in the day? Or is it all sent out at once at 12:01? Would love to know so I can stop worrying :stuck_out_tongue: haha

Nothing for me on WA. Has anyone gotten accepted for the School of Kinesiology? Going to keep checking today.

how does it show on WA if you are accepted? Does it look pretty obvious that you are accepted?

@Analogys Yes, it is very important that you write a letter confirming your interest in Michigan and visit if you can and have not done so already. When we attended the admission presentation they cover the topic of deferrals and the speaker specifically said to send a letter of continued interest if you are deferred and still interested in attending. In the letter, I would explain your interest and update your counselor of any new information such as awards, honors, sports or club accomplishments, volunteering, and new test scores since your initial application. Basically anything that happened since you applied that could strengthen your application.

Happy to report that my sister was admitted to the COE after her deferral. She sent letter of interest to counselor and mid year grade report.

Any international student got in?? If so, where’re you guys from?

@ria2020 Accepted aand from India!

Got in from Wisconsin!

Does anybody know what the next steps are for Ross pre admission?

My daughter was accepted last night. OOS - Illinois - ACT 31, UW GPA 3.94, Weighted 4.64, very strong resume with being a 3 sport varsity athlete, class officer, etc., AP Scholar with Honor. She received the “good” deferral letter from what I’ve read on this forum. Private school.

Accepted to Wisconsin this week too but to a different program than what she applied to at Michigan, so she has some big decisions to make (she isn’t sure what she wants to study yet)! We are very grateful Michigan accepted her and that she has two amazing options. The college admissions process is very stressful! Good luck to those waiting.

Accepted!!
In-State
LSA

WGPA: 4.2
ACT: 30

So happy!! I sent a continued letter of interest and I had my counselor send in my first semester grades.

Accepted umich 31 act international
sent letter of interest
COE

Havn’t been so happy in a long time

Son accepted to LSA this AM.

2230 SAT
34 ACT
Out of State

Sent email of continued interested the day after deferral.

Mid year grades are just being finalized today for his high school, so they obviously did not get sent in and were not a part of their analysis. There was nothing new in his file except his email.

Makes me think that they really like the expression of continued interest or they are trying to work through their offer/enrollment yield.

Still waiting on decision on Ross, which I believes comes out in March.

In fairness, some letters did implicitly say don’t send anything but your grades. Others did not. If your letter said just grades, then you are fine not sending a letter.

Accepted - COE from California. Sent in letter of continued interest in January but mid-year report/grades not yet uploaded (counselor is in the process of uploading now). 4.0UW, 2310 SAT (2330 superscored), 1/500 (most rigorous schedule in school).

My daughter was accepted to LSA this morning and has also applied to Ross. Did your decision say anything about the Ross preferred admission process? The decision she received didn’t mention it; just congratulated her on admission.

@patentj I’m also from CA and also applied CoE. I checked last night, no decision. When did you get your decision?

Is it obvious that you know you are accepted when you look on WA? Also, i sent my letter of interest on January 24th and I did not receive a reply from my counselor, nor did I receive an automated reply,so I just called her today and the lady who answered said she has been out for a while. Does that mean that no one has looked at my application since she has been out? I’m from Massachusetts btw.

@PWANG96, checked this morning around 5:30AMPST and the decision was there. Didn’t look last night so don’t know when it came in.
