University of Michigan Deferral Thread EA 2020

I recieved the HAIl interview and I wasn’t contacted yet but I ot accepted. XD Interview obviously had no impact on my decision lol

Hi i was deferred last december and is it possible to get a decision before RD notification date

@Fozzy1936 UofM actually states that the interviewer will report back to the admissions office to add additional information to the application. So that interview isn’t EVERYTHING, but it can help.

hey everyone
i was initially deferred(legacy applicant) in december and also sent in a letter of continued interest and got that standard reply from my admission’s counsellor. I still haven’t received a decision till now. Do you think I should write to my regional counsellor again showing further interest??

@ug1975 I sent a letter of continued interest a couple weeks after I was deferred in December and I got a standard reply from my regional counselor. I was accepted February 5, so I do not think you need to send another letter. Your counselor will know you are interested and take that into account when your decision is being made. Good luck!

Today I received a literally handwritten personal letter from my admissions councler at U-M congratulating me on my acceptance. It made my day, I was so thrilled.

I’m so scared. I feel that if I don’t get a decision by the 26th ( the next wave according to most) it means more likely to be rejected?? :frowning:

For anyone accepted after deferral, how soon after the mid-year report was sent were you accepted? My daughter’s mid-year report was just uploaded to the CA yesterday.

@CollegeCuriousL My school sends out reports in mid-January (I think somewhere around the 20th). I’m not sure when umich actually received them, but I was accepted on the 5th of February

Edit: I also know people that got in on the 5th who had not yet send their report, so I don’t think it really makes or breaks a decision

Hey, I’m a bit mad I am just now seeing this thread. I, like all of you, were referred.
Info:
GPA: 4.0
ACT: 32
Class Rank: 1/289.
Lots of ECs

I’ve recently requested my school to send out my updated transcripts to Michigan. Is there any point in sending a “continued interest” email anymore? Michigan is the top school I want to get into.

Earlier in this thread people were saying that in past years decisions were sent on the first Friday and last Friday of February. People have also said they received acceptances on another Friday, 2/11/2016.

Don’t be surprised if the next large round of decisions doesn’t take place until March 4.

After the College Board SAT delivery snafu, and being deferred, nothing surprises us anymore!!!

@danloeb you always seem to have the inside scoop!

Is it too late to send a letter of interest now after being deferred in december?

@vandy97 it can never hurt…

The next wave is next Friday?

Read last year’s post. The same thing happened. The same angst. Loads of people were accepted in late February and March.

As of right now, we have all of the materials that we need. We will have a final decision to you by Early April.

I quote this from the reply of my regional counselor. Does this mean that they’ve made the decisions of all deferred applicants?

@hzy0216 what state are you in? I would think this means nothing really.
