University of Michigan Deferral Thread EA 2020

@hld3471 - what a kind comment!! Yes, she is very excited about her admission! She will be attending the new student campus visit next weekend. Perhaps our daughters will meet up at UMICH!

I’m sorry for folks who did not get positive news. Waiting so long and either being reject, waitlisted or still waiting is no fun. Remember there are A LOT of great schools out there - Michigan is only one!

Is there any possible chance of Michigan releasing any decisions over the weekend? Or is the soonest I’d hear back (since I still haven’t received a response) Monday?

Answer my son got when he asked if all decisions would be out by April 6th, the last scheduled admissions twitter chat for Class of 2020. So the wait continues potentially for two more weeks.

Thank you for your email. We have released some decisions, but not all decisions. Look to mid-April to receive your decision. I cannot guarantee that you will receive your decision before April 6th. Let me know if you have additional questions.

I was deferred for EA in December and still have not received a decision yet. It is almost mid April and decision day is only a little over 2 weeks away. I am slightly frustrated that they still have not notified me due to the fact that I am waiting on their decision to make my final decision. They only give me 2 weeks to decide this. I have a $24,000 scholarship waiting at another school and it is only available to students who confirm it first and I cannot accept it until Michigan has given me their decision. I cannot accept it because if I am admitted into Michigan I will receive the HAIL Scholarship. I really wish they would find a way to make the decisions earlier because it would really crush my dreams if I were to have waited this long just to be denied or waitlisted. I hope to receive my decision within the next three days and if I do not hear from them I will be forced to take my scholarship at the other school. Hopefully it will still be available to me.

The other school should not be forcing you to make any decision until May 1, @Waitingwait . You should be able to keep your scholarship until that date.

@Waitingwait Many school do ask students to accept the scholarship before May 1. You can accept it and pay the deposit (if required) while waiting for the other school. At most, you would just lose your deposit on that school if you ended up going somewhere else. If you are accepted by UMich, you just need to tell the first school to withdraw your commitment. You can even do that after May 1 if you are accepted from the waitlist. You should definitely secure your other scholarship until you have a better plan somewhere else.

Seriously can’t believe I got deferred on Dec 18, 2015, and I swore I would hear back by this past friday. They had said early April multiple times and I don’t see why it has to drag on for so long. Still haven’t heard a thing

They only have so many of the scholarships and they give it out to a certain number of people and it is a first come first serve basis. I am tired of waiting and I am just going to go ahead with my second choice. If U of M really wanted me they would have had my decision earlier. My friend is deferred with the same academic record as me and she called and the admissions said it could be at least another week until our decision.

@Waitingwait, it seems like many who had waited for a long time finally heard yesterday (April 19). Either way, it sounds like you’ve made your choice: best of luck, wherever you’re headed!

Saturday April 23 at 12:30 a.m. and still nothing. Have they lost my application? Sent an email asking and it was immediately replied to saying they will not be available to answer any questions until Wednesday April 27.

Wow @NotHavel, Michigan seems pretty unorganised

By when will Umich start releasing waitlist decisions???

@lolonimous, I’m not exactly sure but maybe the folks on this thread will have a better idea:

Good luck!!

@nbsquared - where did your son decide to go?

@collegegirlie11 - where did you decide to go?

RIT. He’s very excited and got a nice scholarship.

My daughter was accepted to LSA in the beginning of April…In State 3.97 weighted, 33 ACT, 10 APs + 1 class at a university. Many EC’s including athletics at the state level and captain of a team. We are relieved…good luck to everyone on the wait list.
