University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

They do have different criteria. In the near future, they will transition into real direct admission with completely separated processes. For the time being, they are using the LSA admission process to filter for academically qualified candidates. After the LSA admission, then they would look at the applicants with different criteria.

I would like to think that they have people capable of filtering “academically qualified” candidates rather than delay the whole thing with this Texas two-step.

Once they started the reviewing process, it will take around 3 weeks to give the Ross admission result. At least most students do not need to wait 1 year to apply to Ross after enrolled in LSA anymore. I don’t see why people are still complaining.

@csekar15 I know some very smart kids who attempted to get into Ross as a cross-campus transfer. Insanely difficult compared to pre-admission. Average cross-campus had a 3.7 GPA at UM for the first year. A 3.7 as a freshman at UM is a feat - between adjustment to college life and the academic rigor. Waiting a few weeks to avoid a full year of stress is well worth it!

I’m not complaining about this. I’m just saying that going to a completely autonomous process is probably better. If they didn’t think that too, they wouldn’t be considering it.

@billcsho I understand it is only 3 weeks. But, when seeing other kids get their acceptances into Ross while waiting for the app to be even handed over to Ross (because of LSA), it can seem like a year. That’s all I’m saying

That is the good and bad things of rolling admission and I have heard similar comments every year. Actually, if one wants it to be like other school without rolling admission, just don’t check this forum and the portal until early April.

@billcsho fair statement… but easier said than done (from our perspective)

Hey everyone! I actually sent in an LOCI about a month ago back in January but have gotten no reply email as to wether or not they received it and that my continued interest has been noted. I sent it through my school’s fax machine and checked the undergraduate admissions office fax number plenty of times to make sure it was correct and it was. Very confused as to whether or not I should send it in again or rather if it’s too late? I sent in my updated transcript a few days ago since that was when it finally got released so I am sure that it reinforced the idea that I am still interested but regardless it obviously doesn’t contain any information on my ECs… Any advice on what I should do??

@brownsie000 have you thought about emailing the LOCI to your rep??

@csekar15 I did when I was first writing it, but my counselor thought it would just be best to fax it in. Do you think I should this late??

@brownsie000 don’t know why you think this is late. Based on other posts, they will be releasing admissions well into March and may be early April. I dont think it can’t hurt

@csekar15 Very true… and I wouldn’t want to have any regrets after the fact thinking that my letter was lost. I will submit a modified LOCI to him tonight and hopefully I receive a reply this time. Thank you for the advice!

@brownsie000 same. I had sent my Loci thru fax and didnt get any reply back so i just sent it again thru email yesterday.

Sending it by email makes it easier for them to reply. Hit the reply button, cut and paste the template response and hit Send. Replying to a fax just takes more steps… I think.

Did anyone recently accepted get their letter in the mail yet? I am still waiting for mine and wondering if anyone has received theirs yet.

Regarding Ross, my son was deferred EA and his Ross tabs have been active for some time. First semester grades were just sent yesterday. Two of his classmates were admitted EA, both applied to Ross, one was accepted to Ross last Friday and one was denied from Ross last Friday (2/2).

@kaj826 denied from Ross last week? Really? This is a blog on their website - https://michiganross.umich.edu/programs/bba/admissions-blog/2018/02/02/just-some-michigan-ross-bba-admissions-decisions-have-been

In the fourth paragraph, they say that they didn’t send any denials in this round.

@Barcelona97531 I haven’t received mine yet!

That is what the student told my son, that the student was denied. This same student was accepted EA at an Ivy.
