So with every wave that is released, would you say the chances of those who have not heard back decreases? Is early/mid March the time of big releases? Have a lot of people heard by now or are we talking about a single digit percentage of the applicant pool at this point?
@amelchd you can go check last year’s deferred applicant threads, it’s pretty obvious that if you hear your decision back from UMich at the beginning of April, it will be 99% either a rejection or a waitlist.
Still deferred…
@billcsho and @098123Student Thank you for answering my question. And no, we didn’t file FAFSA.
When was the first wave of the College of Engineering acceptances sent out last year?
Just read up on the deferred applicants thread from last year. The first Thursday and Friday in March were apparently pretty big waves. The thing is, UMich will be on break for the entire first week of March. Can decisions still be released and do you think they will be?
I was under the impression that the offices are not closed next week. So, they could come out next week.
It is not a school holiday. It is just a break for students.
Ok, then there is hope!
what was the pattern last year for the acceptance waves?
I checked a while ago, and no decisions were released during spring break last year. I’m not sure if it will be the same for this year though.
Edit: Grammar
From what I can see, the first really big wave last year came on the second Friday of March.
@amelchd yeah so that’s the Friday directly after Spring Break right?
Hmm, someone in last year’s thread said that in 2016, the big release were the first Fridays of Feb and March. I don’t know if that was the case last year and I don’t really feel like scrolling through thousands of posts to see, but since the only release so far this year has been the first Friday of February, I think a release next Friday (March 2) isn’t out of the question at all.
So would my chances of getting admitted increase if the decision is sent out sooner rather than later?
@NSaltzman that’s what I’ve been told, but in last year’s deferred thread people were already getting rejected in early March and the only thing worse than being rejected is being rejected after you think you’ve been accepted. So don’t rely on the time of the decision to tell you if you got in or not.
Still a little confused about my application cause I sent my mid year grades through Parchment (even though I don’t think I was asked specifically to send them) over a week ago but my portal still has not updated
Respectfully:
Things I would like to move past because they aren’t really worth spending time on anymore and it makes it difficult to filter through these things to find useful/valuable content:
- meaning of decision tab appearance and/or disappearance
- complaints about the “long” waiting process, hating on a school for it speaking derogatorily about the school
The long wait is difficult. Back in the “Olden Days” we had to wait for the mail and as a general rule it was March. I empathize with the frustration, but speaking about the school negatively because of it is not productive. Venting is healthy in circumstances and we are all here to support but perspective is also important.
It’s obviously a long wait especially because most of us were deferred EA but we can’t be mad at Michigan in any way. All will be fine when we get an acceptance letter in our portals soon anyways!
One may also send a LoLI to the adcom if really cannot wait any longer.
